For decades, centuries, people have used thinly-veiled "code words" to exclude people who were different. They do this so there is deniability. "What? No, I meant nothing by that! Don't be so thin skinned!" So "Classic Family", while discussing gay families, can also mean other non-"classic" families. One only needs to look at the recent (2013) uproar over the Cheerios commercial (in which a white woman is married to a black man, and they have a mixed race child), to see that there is a real issue that has not been addressed. And using the old tired saw, "if you're looking to be offended, you will be" is once again trotting out the same old disguise for whatever discrimination you'd like to engage in.

At least one poster is offended enough by the gay rights movement, to boast that he is now supporting Barilla pasta, because of their "classic" family stance.

I'm not looking to be offended, thoughtless people trigger that response.

He was asked in an interview if they would use a gay family in their advertisements.. The gay community needs another business to boycott to get their agenda out. The backdoor way of using the media without paying for ads.Name 10 products that have a gay family in a national advertisement here in the US.Not gay publications. MSNBC,Time. regular news outlets ect...ABC,..Even 5?

So you are saying that you are stunned that the gay community would use the backdoor way of getting their agenda out?

See your problem is, you want words to be redefined to create the reality you desire.

BUt non the less, words have meanings, definitions.

classic |ˈklasik|adjectivejudged over a period of time to be of the highest quality and outstandingof its kind : a classic novel | a classic car.(of a garment or design) of a simple elegant style not greatly subject to changes in fashion : this classic navy blazer.remarkably and instructively typical : I had all the classic symptoms of flu.

Where are the veiled words?

Now it is true different people in different ares can judge this measurement differently but in no way-shape-or form can one claim -Two men playing husband and wife are a "classic couple" or family.

All this hullabaloo. It's absolutely the Barilla guy's right to run his advertising campaign any way he wants, and to express his opinions. Just as it's absolutely any consumer's right to decide whether or not to buy his products, based on any parameter at all - whether it's the quality of the pasta or the guy's views about gays or whatever. If some people want to organize a boycott and encourage others to join, then that's their right, too.

It's a free market (well, mostly.) Consumers vote with their pocketbooks every single day. If this is an issue that bothers most consumers enough not to buy, Barilla will feel it. I kind of think it's one of those tempests in a teapot, though.
