the embassy must have sent a letter to your partner's post office box, she has to check it, else it would just be sitting there. in case its not there when she checks, send an email to IVDVACCRA@state.gov. and request for a pickup date for packet 3 and 4.

include in your correspondence/email the following:

* Your full name
* Your case number (should be a 10 digit number such as ACC2007123456)
* State whether you are the applicant or the petitioner
* Clearly state your question or concern in the subject line (such as Scheduling Question or DNA Question)

if u have any problems or difficulties at any point, u can send me a private message here on vj, i went through this same process a month ago and im familiar with it.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for the helpful suggestions. It is not that we were waiting we just didn't know what to do. The letter we got told us the embassy would contact us. Immediately after getting the email address, I sent an email to IVDVACCRA@state.gov and received the following response:

Re: ACC201373XXXX

Thank you for your e-mail inquiry.

If you have not received a call in letter, the applicant may come to the U.S. Embassy Accra on any business Wednesday morning at 7:30 am to pick up the appointment package. The package will have the instructions necessary to proceed further with the case. Please be aware that the applicant will drop off this letter in the morning and then return at 2:00 p.m. to receive the package and interview date.

Please also bring a copy of this email to be admitted to the Consular Section.

We hope this information is helpful to you.

Sincerely,

U.S. Embassy Accra

Consular Section

Note: You should never pay for travel arrangements (e.g., airfare, hotels) without having a visa in your possession. The U.S. Embassy accepts no responsibility if you do so. We are unable to guarantee the issuance of a U.S. visa before a fixed travel date. You risk significant financial losses if you ignore this advice.

**** Please include your case number in all correspondence ****

I have instructed my fiancee to return to the embassy again this wednesday to try to get here package. This is the same thing that she had done two weeks ago, but maybe a copy of the email will make the difference. I will post an update wednesday night in case anyone else has had a similar issue.

I forgot to mention that I also did contact the national visa center (603.334.0700) and finally got through. They told me that they couldn't assist me with the case because the case had already been sent to the embassy on August 26th, 2013. So it seems that my fiancee was correct to go to the embassy on Wednesday two weeks ago. Why did they send her away.

What does she need to bring with her in order to get her package 3 and package 4 and the interview date? Is the copy of the email I posted above sufficient or does she need something else?

I believe this is very outdated, current wait time at Accra is about 4-6 weeks so it is even more important that you guys find out where the heck your packet is and when the interview could be! One girl I talked to almost missed her interview because they waited for the embassy to contact them, so keep at it, keep on calling NVC and email IVDVACCRA@state.gov with petitioner and beneficiary first and last name, birthdate and ask when she can come and pick up the packet at the embassy. They may have you forward her the email and print out the response and take it to the embassy...

Good info to know. You can always update the VJ page here with the current info for others going through Ghana.

yeah I think the letter you received from the embassy should be enough for her to receive her packet this wednesday that is tmorrow. she should just print it out and have her passport with her,she should send in the apointment letter in the morning around 7.30am and she would be asked to come back around 2.00pm for her packet 3 and 4. she was sent away previously because she didn't have that letter, I don't think she would be sent away this time around...rolleyes.gif

Update on Abby's and My Petition: This morning at 730 AM she showed the embassy the email letter I mention letter and they admitted her this time. She gave them the letter and they told her to return at 2:00pm. At 2:00pm she went back and the Embassy said they didn't have the case! NVC said they sent it to them August 26th through DHL. I am pretty sure it doesn't take that long to deliver a package!

She went to the post office to ask if the letter had arrived. They said that nothing had arrived at the post office(it's a little town) from the American Embassy. I sent an email to IVDVACCRA@state.go and requested to pick the package up. They responded with a (automated looked message containing our case number that we should print the email and then present it to pick up the packet. She went and presented the email at the embassy and they told her to return in the afternoon to pick up the package. When she returned they said that didn't have it. Now what. Wait a week and go back I guess. I am really frustrated.
