Obamacare - a non profit co-op health insurer? Is this some kind of dream?

So I just found the names of the three insurance companies that will be offering policies on our marketplace. One of them is a non-profit co-op I've never heard of before. But I love the idea. This is what Blue Cross used to be before they went all corporate.

Oh yeah, well the Nazi's had co-op low cost nonprofit socialist health insurance in their concentration camps. Look how that turned out? Vote this down 60 more times!

That was my inner Republican being channeled.

Seems like a good idea. Some things should not be profitable. Making sure someone doesn't die should probably be one of them. I think that's what credit unions do. My dad told me that when he worked for Michigan Bell and was a member of the phone company credit union, he would get a check every year that they gave to all the members when they made a profit. I don't know if they still do that.

I also don't think pharmaceutical companies should be able to advertise. Frankly seeing two people sitting next to each other in bathtubs isn't going to make me buy ####### pills. Either I need them or I don't.

I guess there's a socialist buried deep down inside me somewhere.

Healthcare cost are insane in this country. I posted a couple days back that I was charged $4000 for 6 stitches? A 45 minute visit should never cost 4 grand. Unless a special service is being performed by two professionals. lol ;)

Healthcare should be excluded from profit. We already spend billions on research grants. I believe Doctors should be paid well, but I get the feeling the Doctors aren't the ones getting fat off this system.
