Hey everyone :D

I posted a couple of months ago saying that my family and I were planning a move to Texas, from Maryland. We were originally planning to move to New Braunfels, but my husband just got a job in Austin and that would have been too far to commute! So... The way it happened was a bit sudden, we sold everything (scary stuff) packed up and flew to Houston 2 weeks ago. I found my husband a temporary room in Austin and he rode the bus there the other day. My Son and I are staying in Houston for a few weeks until we can find somewhere to rent!

I have never been to Austin! I have heard great things about it, but I don't even know where to begin with looking for somewhere to rent. I have been told that the best place to live would be North West.

Are there places that I should definitely avoid?

Anyone have any Austin tips?

Any fellow VJ'ers is Austin?

Thanks!

I lived in San Antonio for seven years...Austin is a great place! No bad areas of which I am aware. My suggestion is to find a place close to where your husband works. Traffic is actually bad in Austin because they don't have as good a freeway system as Houston or Dallas.

Depending upon where he works in Austin the commute to New Braunfels isn't that bad.

Check out Rudy's...advertised as the worst BBQ in Texas...it rocks!

Thanks! I will check that out!

He is going to be working all over Austin :/ His boss said today to try and look NorthWest or West of 135 to make the commute easier...

It's so hard looking for somewhere to live in an area you don't know!

I am really looking forward to living there though!!
