Medication Questions

I just thought I'd ask before I go (tomorrow, woohoo!), but here's the deal.

I have epilepsy (pre-existent condition hooray!) and I take one tablet a day, and have done regularly for the past six+ years. These keep my seizures under control, yadda yadda, I've been fine for eons anyway. Obviously I need to get insurance sorted out when I go over there, I do know a job I'm applying for comes with some kind of coverage but we'll see what happens. Anyway, my question is, what's the LAW or guidelines concerning sending medication between countries? It looks bad enough on paper anyway, haha.

I ask because my wife, who was over in the UK for six months was sent her prescribed medication from the US every month and that came through smoothly with no questions asked. I've also seen stories online of people just keeping their prescription going in the UK and having it sent over the the US, but that just sounds illegal, haha. Any guidance is appreciated~

(and I don't need to worry for a while anyway, I have enough medication to last me until March right now)

Is the medication not sold in the US? I can see if you were on a six month visit, but you are taking up permanent residence in the US. Is getting a US doctor to manage your health and meds out of the question as your eventual solution. How many years can you expect a UK doctor to continue prescribing meds for a non-resident patient? Do they have unlimited lifetime refills on meds in the UK? I understand what you are asking, but it still kinda puzzles me.

Based on all the junk emails I get from Canadian pharmacies to order medications...well maybe it is okay. Is it the cost of the medications that is a concern.

Check to see how much the medicine will cost in the US. If its quite a common drug that has been around for a long time and a generic is available, there's a good chance the medication will be pretty inexpensive. Last time we were in the US, my medication cost me $4 at Walmart.
