US Visa ready to pick...I just have some questions

I received a text from 2GO, my visa is now ready to pick up. I will pick it up next week, should be a day before my CFO.

I just have a question regarding the expiration of the Visa. When does the expiration start to count?

How about the 90 days, is it going to start upon my arrival in the USA? Or will it start at the same time with the Visa?

Anyone know any cheapest hotel or any clean accommodation near the CFO?

Thank you very much! smile.png

Congratulations!! I'm happy for you!

I'm not exactly sure when the visa itself expires, meaning how long you have to use it.

Your 90 days starts when you enter the US.

What did your text from 2go say? Did it tell you where it was delivered??

Congrats again an have a age trip!!

Thanks for the reply! Glad you understood it was supposed to be "safe" trip not "age" trip! Lol. Stupid autocorrect.

My fiancée stayed there for medical and CFO as well. She said it was nice and buffet breakfast is included with room. I think it's like 1200-1600php?

Expiration? Well that is two different questions with two different answers.

Visa expiration for entry into the USA is 6 months from the date of the medical.

Visa expiration after clearing POE..... "poof"!! Gone! Kaput! K-1 is a single entry visa, valid to get you into the USA one time, then it expires. You now have to get married within 90 of entry or else! ;)

And yes the 90 days starts the moment you clear POE. After marriage there is no set time limit for AOS, but best to do it within a year of your medical at SLEC or you will be required to complete a new medical.

You must have had a better room. I paid $40 a night and that included breakfast. I went back and checked the email receipts.

It will expire in 6mos. Now the moment you enter the US soil your K1 visa is automatically expired. Immigration officer in the airport will give you form which is the i-94. You will be given 90 days to get married otherwise you need to go back home.

Immigration's at POE no longer does the paper I-94. The I-94 is done on the CBP website after clearing POE.

Expires in 6 months from WHEN though? Let's be clear so no one is confused, eh?

6 months from the date of the medical, as Hank said above, not from the date the visa was issued.

Also of interest when you arrive in the US... wait about 10 working days, then go to your local Social Security office and apply for your SSN. Once you have that, go apply for a driving permit, but many states require you to do so before your I-94 expires. Once it expires, you may have to wait until you get a NOA-2 for your AOS application (or maybe even have GC in hand, which is taking several months in some cases). So if you wish to drive in a reasonable amount of time, do all of that before your I-94 expires. Also, you must apply for SSN prior to 14 days before your I-94 expires, or SSA won't give you one until you have your GC/EAD.

Good luck!

Haha! I know already figure out it was just typo. Happens to me all the time with my tablet. HEHE!

Lotus Garden standard room cost $54 dollars. I am just looking for a clean place my older sis and I could stay overnight for my CFO. Even a place like bed spacer is fine as long as clean and near CFO. I think no one knows an accomodation like this here on vj.

Thank you very much. This is the answer to my questions. So the medical has an expiry date as well. I remember you have mention this in one of the topic, I couldn't find it anymore.

Thank you again! smile.png

I completely understand now.

Driving permit? Is it a driving lesson? Is it for Identification? My fiance said I can just get an state ID instead of driving permit for identification, is it a good idea?

Thank you very much for the answers. Such a great help for me. Very informative. :)
