On the sauce tip, how about Diana Sauces? I went to their website and there is a question in the FAQ about coming to the USA and they are not. I'm sure I've seen it here though. Anyone else?

Also if you're looking for cheese curds, look no further than Wisconsin or Minnesota, get them at most any grocery store.

OMG how oh how could i have forgotten about those!!! I loved Diana sauces..until you mentioned it i had completely forgotten about them!

2.54 a bar..OUCH lol. worse than my coffee crisps...at 2$ each

What. Are you telling me they don't have wunderbars in the states?

I might have to re-think this immigration thing... husband vs. wunderbar.. don't make me choose!

No wunderbars. I stock up when I go home, I keep them handy for bad days when I want to rip ppl apart days :P If they sold them here I'm probably eat them less as I could get them whenever then.

I've heard there are a few places like Trader Joe's you can get cheese curds, but is there anywhere at all, even online, where you can get peameal bacon? Or is so-called 'canadian bacon' close enough that if you roll it in some cornmeal, you'll never notice the difference?

Around here canadian bacon is nothing more then ham, so that won't work.

Oh god I may die. I'd forgotten until recently that peameal bacon was a Canadian thing. How will I have Christmas morning without peameal roast???

Has anyone found a place that sells Hickory Sticks? Man I miss those.

I also hate American Oreas, Canada's are soooooooo much better.

I brought tons of Crunchies, Coffee Crisp and Crispy Crunch and Maple Syrup down with me, but there are still so many things I am shocked they don't have here. All Dressed chips, seriously?!?!? This is America and they haven't thought to dress a chip with everything! lol

  • 3 weeks later...

The teen just went home for a visit and brought me back a bag of Hawkin’s Cheesies in her carryon. Guess she thought mama’s treat was too important to get lost…

She brought Hallowe’en sized coffee crisp, smarties, aero & kit kat to share with her friends. They went over very well, of course!

I am getting super excited about my trip to Ontario in August! Gonna buy as much stuff as I can afford! Ketchup, Ketchup and All Dressed chips, VH Plum Sauce, Passion Flakies, Ah Caramels, Caramilk bars and KRAFT DINNER!! So so excited! Oh...and Ginger Gravol (because of my motion sickness...Dramamine makes me sleepy...even the less drowsy formula) and Vicks sticks for my sinuses. The Vicks sticks here smell awful...I use them for when my sinuses hurt (I have chronic sinusitis so it helps clear my head for about 20-30 minutes).

(My local Giant sells Aero bars, so I can scratch that off my list! They are in the British section...I think they should add a Canadian section to that!)

There should be a canadian section! I barley ate chocolate but once I got pregnant and wanted something sweet, I quickly noticed none of my favorites were here. I can't even find orangina here (Italian soda) :( no poutine either.

A lot of medications we could get back home are impossible to find here. And I can't find real Italian bread either! Drives me nuts! And a german mustard I introduced to my husband, can't find it here either. Might just be the area we live in, out in the sticks lol, we're lucky to have a wal mart here.

I miss this won ton noodle place back home and a chinese noodle bar at the casino, and home made gelato!

I miss canadian cottage cheese, stuff here sucks! And our dollar stores! Lol I think that's about it

Kraft Dinner does not taste different to me? But I am not a connoisseur. And why oh why can I not find "smokies" - like the sausages you eat in a bun. Are they called something differnet here?

Also, Meijer brand ketchup does not use High Fructose Corn Syrup and kinda tastes like Canadian ketchup. Closest I have had.

The bread here is awful. The only thing I like about it is that there is 35 calorie bread, but it tastes horrible.

I actually am still in Canada but have started doing this as a low cost alternative to Orangina (it doesn't taste identical, but its pretty freaking good). I have a soda stream. I do 50/50 pulp-inclusive orange juice and soda stream carbonated water, with a splash of simple syrup (made by putting 1:1 sugar and water into a pot, heating until all sugar is dissolved, then chilling) into a cup. It's awesome and cheap.

Recent experiences - I discovered that my favourite tea Red Rose Orange Pekoe is unique to Canada-- SORT OF. They make it down here but use slightly inferior leaves than the Canadian version. If you can't taste the difference they have the American Red Rose Orange Pekoe available in Fred Meyer.

Also I have discovered something surprising this summer - as people have complained about bug bites I mention Afterbite and no one seems to know what it is. I explain and they look mystified. I looked it up on Amazon.com and it seems the most popular use is a cream for toddlers, but you can get the actual Afterbite. I was pretty surprised! Is it just this area that no one has heard of it in?

I'm not a tea drinker can't stand the stuff. But afterbite is all over here in Arkansas but I think it sucks. I bought the benadryl stick for bug bite is Canada and brought some back with me. Works way better then the after bite.
