I'm SO glad I'm not the only one. I thought I was being too picky about food in the US. I'm not finding things all that cheaper here than they are in Canada, could be the area I live in though. I've found mostly British foods, but that is great in my books!

Giant: (Giant has a pretty good international food section)

Billy Bee Canadian Clover honey in the bear shape! Expensive but worth it. IMHO.

Sharwood's Tikka Masala and Pataks Butter Chicken simmer sauces. They are british, but I love a good curry.

Pim's european biscuits - Orange and chocolate

Yorkshire puddings and pancake mix

Ribena

Nature's Promise Tuna - just tuna, salt and water! Expensive though.

Shoppers Foods:

Bird's custard

PG tips

World Market:

Various foods, but I found HP there and After Eights oh and a stale coffee crisp.

Trader Joe's

Wheetabix

Target:

Dorset Cereals

I'm going to get new flour. I didn't know that. Could be why my soughdough starter hasn't worked!

I miss pickles, they are not the same here and have "yellow 5" in them.

Hope this helps! smile.png

Are you in Maryland? Where abouts?

I miss pickles too :( When my parents came to visit for Canadian Thanksgiving (because I do a dinner here!) my dad asked me where the pickles are. I was like, you don't want them! Next time, BRING SOME BICKS!

Does anyone know what's with the American cinnamon? It tastes very different from what we have in Canada. It's like it's sweeter or something. My fiancé notices it too so it's not just me. Gives my pies and turnovers an odd taste. Another thing to bring in huge amounts when we come back permanently!

I haven't really noticed a difference. It isn't cinnamon sugar by chance is it? Mmm...cinnamon sugar. Now I want a cinnamon sugar sour cream donut from Tim Hortons...

Yup, in Maryland - just outside of DC. Bicks pickles are great!

I've started to make bread and other things just because certain things are really different here.

Good idea! There is a website that already does that but the shipping cost is silly. Also the markup on certain products.

Well probably cause shipping itself is silly.

Seriously. Shipping packets south or north is just...

My 32 year old sister will be upset I won't be sending her "stuff" for Christmas anymore!! Too expensive!!!

It's not a food product but...I've found in this small Midwest town it's impossible to get a skin lotion that does not have mineral oil or petrolatum in it. I'm really allergic to both. I normally use Herbacin in Canada, in the unscented but it looks like you can only get the scented one here, and have to go to the big city for that. Will be checking out getting that online. It's all an interesting adventure.

Also, I got a different brand of cinnamon, problem solved.

I haven't moved yet, but I'm going to miss pemeal bacon, schneiders Red Hot hot dogs, Canadian cheese whiz, Canadian Heinz ketchup, Canadian miracle whip and Canadian Kraft Dinner, cheese curds, and the list is longer. They don't have much that I do like in Massachusetts. Even there milk seems different, it's like white water. oh and Tenderflake lard my pies just don't turn out the same using the stuff they have there. Going to have to start collecting these groceries so when I move I have a stock pile lol. Can we bring meats such as pemeal bacon and hot dogs across the border?

This thread's made me homesick.. and I was just there in December.

When we drove up the first time, I brought back a box full of stuff. Last time I flew.. I managed to get mustard back.

What I miss the most is the Sobey's brand Honey Garlic Sauce, and Honey Mustard. The rest I can do with out.

When hubby said were were probably flying this summer not driving, there were tears... real tears. I had big plans for honey garlic sauce and mustard. I'll get mustard, but no HG sauce. And I'm not willing to pay $70 for 7 jars on ebay.

Though he keeps saying he wants to visit a friend in Detroit.. and there's a sobeys over the border... hmmm....

For those who want aged cheese, try humbird cheese (google it) they have decent shipping and the cheese is to die for. Hubby's working in Texas and he's already had me ship some down. lol
