Hi peeps,

I don't come in here that much anymore, maybe because everything's been going smooth here.

Great wife, excellent job etc.

It's gonna be a subdued Christmas atmosphere however as last sunday Kathleen's mom lost her battle against cancer.

Everyone is devastated of course.

At least we can take comfort in the fact that she went peacefully and apparently in no pain, surrounded by her loved ones.

In the relative short amount of time I became quite attached to that sweet little lady who welcomed me in the family as one of her own, telling me face to face how delighted she was that her daughter finally found happiness with a good man. I promised her to be a good husband for her daughter and I'll stick to that.

I remember how thrilled she was when she met my mom who came over from Belgium to attend the wedding, I remember her unselfish attitude, always concerned about the wellbeing of others even when her condition was getting worse.

I remember her wish to stay at home, knowing her condition was getting worse, but she insisted to stay with "my folks" as she called all of us... and she didn't want her dog Buddy to be left alone.

Christmas gatherings will never be the same...

Rest in peace Terri.

At work they've been wonderful, allowing me to be off till the 18th, combination of paid bereavement and vacation time. I now know that the effort I put into my job pays off.

Merry Christmas to y'all.

Silvain.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Cherish the memories you have with your mother-in-law and remind yourself how lucky you are to have a great family. I never got to meet my mother-in-law and father-in-law, and would love to have been able to share some time with them. It's really a blessing that you were able to have that time with her, and I'm sure she was at peace knowing that her daughter was left with a loving husband.

My condolences to you and your wife.
