Has anyone ever filed a US Petition on your behalf?

So, my fiancee is posed with this question. I kind of helped her with a student visa application she had before and I was going to be her sponsor financially, but I don't know if it can be considered me filing on her behalf. Other than my lending her financial support and a place to live, I wasn't filing for a fiancee visa for her or anything like that. She was just applying for a student visa and I was going to help her out. Does this mean that I can check the box that says "no", or do they consider that "filing a petition on her behalf?" Please, help me with any advice. Thanks.
