Hello to all:

I have a couple of questions regarding the filling for I-864 form.

1. Since I'm not working, I know I have to still fill the I-864 form with zero income. Should I include my IRS Tax declarations from previous years?

2. One of my friend is going to act as joint sponsor. Does she needs to fill I-846 only or should she include I-864a?

Thank you in advance for your responses

For the 1st question: i'd say Yes I don't think it can hurt you if you do so. 2nd question: she needs to fill out I-864. IF she's married and her income tax filing status is married filing jointly, only then will she file another I-864A this time but it'll be in her husband's behalf which he'll have to sign. FYI: All joint sponsors sign I-864. Household members sign I-864A

I don't know the answer to your first question, but I would say it would not hurt to include previous year's tax returns. It's always better to have too much information than to have to little information. I also have zero income, but I included my tax returns for the 2 previous anyway.

for your second question, your friend will fill out an I-864. If she needs to combine incomes with a household member to meet the income requirement, they will fill out I-864a.

1. You are required to fill out the Total Income amounts from your last 3 years on the I-864 form where it asks, and to send in your most recent tax transcript.

2. Joint sponsor fills out only one form, the I-864. If they are using a household member to reach the income requirement then their household member would fill out an I-864A.
