Hi All,

I filed I-130 for my wife under F2A on Sep 3rd, 2013. My passport will expire on Nov 2014 and i plan to make a trip out of US in Feb 2014 and just for safety side i want to get my passport renewed this Oct/Nov. Passport is in a pretty bad shape now as its Old (almost 10 yrs).

My question: Do i have to inform USCIS say in Nov/Dec that i renewed my passport since the passport number that i gave in I-130 and one that i will get now will be different? Or does USCIS care only about the passport details of the beneficiary (my wife) for I-130/NVC and not mine?

Thanks,

Vijay

I dont recollect passport information being asked in I-130. Where did you provide passport information?

In general nothing changes for now. You can update if asked at NVC stage.

You are right with the fact that i-130 application did not ask for passport number. But we did send the first and last page of my passport along with the I130. So they should have the passport copy and it will be different if NVC asks for it since i would have got the new passport by then.

You, as the petitioner (Green Card Holder) were not and will not be required to submit copies of your passport at any stage. Only the biographical data page of your wife's passport will be required so no worries. ~~~
