The Senator's enquiry thing on our behalf

Well hi,

My husband (the petitioner for me) is from Texas. My father in-law is also Texan but lives some of the time in New Mexico. He arranged a request from the Senator of NM to file an enquiry on our behalf. Thing is - the release form asks me to fill in my "NM zip code". This worries me as my husband and I are not living or from NM, but New Zealand until such time as I obtain a visa and get to live in our house in Texas.

So - we oughtn't go this route with a NM senator huh? As this will complicate things and an USCIS rep will want to know just why a senator from another state is enquiring on our behalf right? Or doesn't it matter?

what reckon?

When I lived in Ohio I too used the help of a Congressman ,and it did matter that our address fell within the county of his constituients....it was helpful ,in that you do tend to get some answers, but in reality ,no further ahead.

I am not sure if the same rule applies in Texas. You could check his website, and send his office an email.

Good luck.

What news from the enquiry ?

am writing to provide you with an update on your recent inquiry. I have spoken with our liaison at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and she has informed me that they are currently working on processing applications for those that applied for Visas for U.S. Citizens filing for a spouse, parent, or child under 21 on or before October 22, 2012
. Because you have applied after this date, you can expect a longer wait time. Our office has no authority over expediting any Visa claims. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

The info that they gave us above, isn't actually quite correct as I'm sure you know of instances where applications dated well after the mentioned date of October 22, 2012 have been completed. So I didn't regard this with much credence.
