Ha, how do you think a rough and tough veteran of a foreign war feels talking to a kid not even dry behind the ears yet at a local field office that has the power of your life in their hands. Talk about having to take what I call, "nice pills". Just watched very carefully my behavior and had to be very nice and polite. It is a privilege and not a right.

Reading that I-864 for the first time was a shock, came quickly to the realization I was really sticking my head in a noose. So much for bringing the poor here, really checked over my financial records to see if I had enough cash. And watching out for yourself is the most important thing, quickly learned the USCIS does not help a sponsoring US citizen if a victim of fraud. Just the opposite, hang you with that I-864 if you are.

But we already have dated for two years before tying the knot, and found a woman we could peacefully talk things over, as she put it, lots of complications. Mostly in getting permission for her daughter to leave her home country. We have yet to have an argument, don't find a woman like that every day. And then dealing with crooked notaries and judges in both Venezuela and Colombia. Only to be accused of fraud by my own country that I was suppose to give my life for until we proved ourselves innocent.

Then to read if fraud is expected can get up to a $250,000.00 fine and five years in a federal prison, found that to be ironic, same exact fine for copying a DVD. Then after laying out over 6,000 bucks in fees that can be rejected if one error was found. One killer was that I-693, free for filing, but then had to deal with crooked USCIS approved doctors, health insurance does not cover that.

This is after 9/11 when Homeland Security was invented, I did find the old INS forms that were written in perfect English, but then Bush put this idiot, Emilio Gonzales in charge of the newly formed USCIS, a Cuban refugee that can't even speak English. God, he messed up those forms with trick questions. Having a minor in English didn't help me at all. So searched for one of the top immigration firms in the USA to look over my forms. They found errors. Could have kissed that 6000 bucks away.

American Board of Immigration Attorneys finally got rid of Emilio, but only acting directors after that, same old stupid forms. He was shifting things around so much, our applications got lost not once, but three times. This told me as well as my attorney to make once inch thick copies of everything, or else you have to start from scratch. But after seven long years of this BS, it was finally over. Ironically both of my wife's and stepdaughter's IO's were from a foreign country that were once enemies of the USA, that didn't help either. Talk about giving me the urge to kill. Good thing I had Senator Fiengold behind me or we would still be waiting. USCIS wouldn't fool around with him, headed the USCIS budget committee.

Good luck. And what good luck is, is not having a traffic jam and getting a Made in the USA, IO.

There are times the embassy/consulate interview goes very wrong.( Our own denial was when after answering details of what type of job I have and the place I work for the CO told my husband :"If you want a visa I need you to tell me details of what you wife is working on " ) That CO no longer gives family based interviews.

There are some that walk in there thinking that it is a right and all they have to do is show up and those interviews usually go down in flames. There are some fraudsters that mess up the interview on purpose because their loved one has been sending significant money to help and they want the money to keep coming. There are cases where the embassy knows the person is a fraudster and blocks the interview. There are some cases where extreme nerves get to the person and causes a false denial. In all cases of false denials they came be overcome at a later date. Is it ideal no

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
