Hi, just had a question about the K1 visa.

After marriage, if you used a co-sponsor for your K1, does this mean that the petitioner cannot get unemployment benefits if they are without a job?

Because I know the beneficiary cannot get any benefits, and that if they try the co-sponsor is liable... Does this count for the petitioner too?

Regards

Unemployment is not a government "benefit" per se. It is a form of insurance and, therefore, the petitioner can receive them (if otherwise eligible). The beneficiary can as well, if they lose their job and otherwise meet the requirements.
