That's a magnificent score. As one of every 12, in this case moderately red/green colorblind, I couldn't begin to take the test, no see man, although I'll forward the link to other folks.

When I was young, our family was neighbors with a family where the wife was yellow/blue colorblind. That's exceptionally rare.

Colorblindness typically affects men and is passed genetically through the mother. I definitely got mine from Maternal Granddad, although his case of it was far worse than mine. I can often (or even usually) appropriately match ties with shirts, although my mistakes horrify other people.

I've often wondered whether folks in fields where perceiving color is important -- such as chemistry and medicine -- make it partway or all the way through school only to find that they're handicapped in their careers.

My eyesight has degraded with age, as expected, and I have to use reading glasses more and more. But I have learned a few techniques over the years to match colors, by not looking at the colors themselves, but by comparing intensities of a particular tint. For instance, two colors I run into all the time are polar white and colonial white. They don't look that different to the untrained eye, but compare the color to a sheet of white paper held up to it, one color appears yellow and the other appears blue.

I teach high school biology and one year while on the genetics section we found out a kid was colorblind. He never knew!

I remain angry, or at least peeved, at the creators of various of Mini-Bone's games, wherein one puts the colored fish into the proper slots, etc. The pieces aren't labeled as to color! Mini-B. corrects me on the red-brown-green and on the blue-purple. Sometimes, he intentionally plays with my mind. Pretty good for a 32-month-old, wee man.
