I just changed my address online and when I entered my receipt number like it asked, it gave me an error that it doesn't match their records?? What does that mean? I triple checked the number and put in the correct form number, PLEASE if anyone has come across this help me understand :( It gave me a box to check to confirm the change if I'm sure of the information and I did that but what if something is wrong?

Did the receipt number work to check your status before changing your address? Are you using the number from your NOA or biometrics letter?

No, you need to use the one on the biometrics letter. Try giving it some time for your info to update in the system before trying again later.

I already resubmitted with the correct number...maybe I should just call and do it over the phone to verify? I don't want this to mess up my application crying.gif

That is odd. Glad it worked out for you, even if the USCIS stuff makes little sense at times smile.png

Just wanted to point out that I did a change of address too and got an RFE after that. The receipt # I had to use to get the online update is the one on the RFE. The one on the NOA and biometrics is no longer valid

ROC Journey:

4/24/13 - Submitted I-751 application

4/26/13 - I-751 officially filed

6/11/13 - Biometrics done

8/14/13 - Rec'd RFE

9/21/13 - Submitted RFE response

9/23/13 - RFE response rec'd at VSC

(about 2 months later)

11/21/13 - Service request via Tier 1 submitted

12/11/13 - Response to service request rec'd - vague info about processing times

12/12/13 - Service request via Tier 2 submitted

12/10/13 - APPROVED!!! (letter rec'd 12/14/13)

12/16/13 - 2nd Service request response rec'd

12/17/13 - Card production email/text rec'd (online case updated)!

12/24/13 - Notification rec'd via email regarding card mailed on 12/23/13 (online case updated as well)

12/26/13 - 10-yr card rec'd!

One thing I have learned on this journey:

There is no such thing as an "overkill" evidence package. Submit anything and everything you can. Who knows what will prevent you from getting an RFE.

I am still in the process where I just have the biometrics letter and the NOA. The biometrics number did not work and the NOA number did. Why did you get an RFE, what did it say? That you entered the wrong number?

For a change of address with a pending case I believe you also need to call them and tell them over the phone. It says something to that effect on the letters your receive.

So if I were you, I would call them and make a change of address, and you could also try the bio number again, to be sure.

You could also call and get a Tier 2 person and ask them about change of address protocol.

I did try and call, they said they couldn't see anything regarding my change of address and because I changed it online to wait for the letter in the mail within 30 days..they weren't very helpful, so the bio number is the one I should use?

I don't know which number to use. Both numbers are attached to your case, both are real numbers. One worked for you and one didn't. I wouldn't get too nervous about it.

I would try to call again. I distinctly remember some verbiage on some USCIS correspondence that you were to call and file AR-11 if you moved while a case was pending. I guess it was a year ago now.

I would call and say "I have a pending case and I would like to inform you of a change of address." I wouldn't mention whatever happened with the online thing until after they have changed your address in the system.

From what I have read here, the AR-11 change of addresses go to some facility and are often not checked against real cases or updated in real time.

Okay I'll try a third time, the first thing they ask me is if I updated my address online and I didn't lie, I told them I did and they shut me down right then and there telling me to wait. I've called twice already. I asked both agents what number to use and they both didn't know. I'll try calling again. I'm nervous about mail getting lost..

I moved in the middle of my AOS process. What I did was:

Beneficiary: a) change of address online for 485, 765, and 131; b) AR-11 online

Petitioner: a) change of address online for 130; b) fill 865 and send it by snail mail.

So, no phone calls needed (but I don't know how this would be affected by a RFE or other issues, and i don't know if it is different for ROC)
