My fiancé had his k1 visa interview yesterday in Baghdad and he said he thought it went well, but he was so nervous he forgot two questions. He said towards the end the consular was cheerful but I was not there so of course I am so stressed and freaking out. They kept his passport and said it would be delivered back by Dhl, but never told him when. When the interview was over they never told him if it was approved or not nor did they give him any slips or papers or said anything about administrative processing. We have an attorney and I sent him lots of evidence, but I am worried because they never told him if he was approved or denied. Someone please help if you have had this experience before. I am a ball of nerves.

I can understand your stress and anxiety at this point. My fiance went through her interview back in September and when I checked the case status it went from Ready, to Administrative, to Ready, then Issued after about 10 days. Give it at least a week. It can take from 7-10 business days to process, maybe even a little longer. Hopefully everything is fine and its just a matter a waiting a little more which is not what you want to hear but try to stay positive!! Good luck to you and God bless!!

Thank you guys. I appreciate it, but I'm confused about if he was approved or not. They kept his passport and said we will send it back to you. Does this mean he was approved?

No one here can tell you if he was approved or not. The only way to know for sure is to call DoS. It is a good sign that they kept his passport.

I can't speak for your embassy, but normally they won't take the passport unless the Visa has been approved. They put a special sheet in the Passport, and then send a courier to deliver it.

PS It won't hurt to call the DoS and ask. I was on a first-name basis with most of them while our request was stuck at NVC. :)

Sounds like a good sign!!!! I'm surprised you got an answer at all!!! I have a question.....Do you know where your fiance' had to go to get Police records or letter of no conviction? This is the last thing my fiance' has to get and he is getting the run around our interview is Oct 8 and we have No time.

I'm crossing my fingers and praying for you!!!! Inshallah! Everything will be fine!!! Good Luck to you both!! :0)
