OP mentioned he is fluent in Russian.

That is because Google translate does a very poor job of translating Russian to English or English to Russian for that matter. So the OP took what his fiancee typed into Skype and pasted into Google translate is my take on this.

OP: Your finacee was denied the visa for a reason she is not telling you and you need to talk to her about the interview process. It maybe something she didn't do right or it might be because she cannot speak English very well or some other reason she is embarrased to tell you. IMHO, if you want this relationship to succeed, you need to careflly and slowly explore why the visa was denied. Once you have that infomation you can see if you can overcome that and try again. I would recommend that if you try again, you get married and go for the spousal visa (I-130). I could be as simple as she got scared and did not show up to the interview. I would look here before I would jump to the "she scammed me" train of thought, but then I tend to give people a couple benefits of the doubt.

Explore why the visa was denied with her and see if this can be fixed.

Good luck,

Dave

Google translate is pretty good as far as I know, I have used in Germany while I was working there and it seemed pretty good.

Anyways I was not even going by the translation, first thing she did not get any paper is weird.

Op said that in first post itself about her talking about doing another interview in 14 days, which sounds weird as she should know she was going for fiancée visa so why would she talk about work visa to others outside the consulate?

I am sure that conversation outside the consulate was in Russian.

Google translate is usually ok, but for this it failed. I find it highly odd she just barely talks about the interview, seems like it's no big deal. I would think that, failing the visa interview, meaning that she can't live with you for a long time, would merit a much bigger response than a few sentences.

Yes, it is a google translation as I said I got it from Skype. I do speak Russian, but I do not have a Russian keyboard. Of course, I could use it in the translation, but it would take me forever.

I'm sorry to bring this up again but I get the feeling it might be difficult for you two to communicate? I mean no offense by that, I'm just asking. My husband and I used google translate to clarify certain words he didn't understand.

Ok. I have the KEV number and checked the casefile status. The status says "Ready" for interview, but the last update was August 29th. I was on the NVC waiting for over 35 minutes for the KEV number - ugh. On the American embassy website in Kiev, I was trying to check the status, but when submitting my information, it says page request not found. I tried a different browser and it said the same.

Yes, it is very difficult to communicate with her, but only when she talks fast. I can speak and understand Russian, but not at a fast pace. Every so often she gets in that mood as if I can understand speedy Russian.

Also, on the embassy website it says "If your fiancée is not issued a visa, he or she will receive written notification giving the reasons for the refusal. The refusal letter will explain either how to drop off the missing documents or how to schedule a second appointment. Your fiancée will not be required to pay again."

So, I guess she can schedule a 2nd appointment. If there was a supposed fraud indicator, then apparently I can do a waiver. I tried the DOS hotline; they will reopen in about 10 minutes from this post. Now, I will try to call the American Embassy in Kiev.

Well if it's only a matter of missing documents then that might be an easy fix. My hubby's visa was denied because they needed proof of my second visit and I needed a co-sponsor. Once we got the documents in his hands I scheduled an appointment for him. Because he passed his interview (it was good), he didn't need to be interviewed again, just to bring the papers. The embassy approved the papers and issued his visa.

Refusal is different from denial, they might refuse someone a visa becasue of more documentation or more evidence. For refusal one can always have a second interview if you provide what is required. Denial NO only if its apealed and case re-opend. Denial they send it back to NVC and NVC will do more investigation which can take up to 6 months after which case will be closed.

Just to let everyone know - I never said I was fluent. I am advanced, but sometimes 1 word can make the entire sentence different. I always translate from google, bing, and yandex to make sure I am correct. Many times the translation is horrible from those sites and I often understand the Russian better than the English translation. The moderator in here said to translate it. And I wanted to google translate it for everyone. I had a Russian woman here in my town try to translate it and she was confused also. Someone mentioned she may have been drunk when she wrote me. I did not think of that, but very possible. Sometimes, she helps her friend cleaning in a bar, but I do see her getting drunk - which i do not like. Now, I just need to find the refusal number 221,212,214 to see what I can do next. I am debating about traveling to Kiev, but I want more info before I hop on the plane.

Yes, it is a google translation as I said I got it from Skype. I do speak Russian, but I do not have a Russian keyboard.

Why would you need a Russian keyboard to translate something into English.

OP didn't say he needed a Russian keyboard to write the translation, only that it would take him a long time.
