Letter from employer about my employment

I spoke with my boss a long time ago about this letter and it doesn't seem to take long to do.

Then again, maybe it depends where you work.

I am a teacher and I have my contract from last year with my salary on it and I have another one given to me in September stating when I began, my salary, etc. (This is better because I got a huge raise).

I'm going to the interview with my fiance so I'm bringing as much proof as possible.

Should I ask for another letter on top of the one I was given in September - maybe one that has a more recent date?

I plan on taking my latest pay stub with me along with my last one from this year showing how much I earned.

Meredith, it wouldn't hurt to try. I'd go with the most recent date possible.

On another subject: did you get your hard copy of NOA2 yet? Let us know, ok?

Glad you asked this one, Angilla, as I was about to post a very similar question, in relation to the bank statement rather than the employer's letter, though. I've searched the forums for a definitive answer on how 'recent' the financial support evidence has to be at the time of interview, but haven't had much luck so far. My fiance (the USC) banks with a small credit union, and over New Year he's moving to another city where they don't have a branch. He reckons he'll be able to just phone them and ask for the statement we need, or at worse, get his mum to go and pick it up... but as he hasn't checked with them, I'm inclined to worry! I've been wondering if he might be better off getting a statement dated late December rather than finding out later on that he'll have to take a half-day from work just to sort it out. But we're several weeks (at best) from our NOA2, so it might be far too early...

Not trying to thread-hijack, but am interested in any answers on the timeframe and how 'old' the financial support info is allowed to be!

Feather,

my fiancé isn't going to provide the bank statement (he only uses it to recieve his payment). Anyway, can't your fiancé talk to someone in the bank, let them know he'll be needing such a letter and then, when you're closer to your interview date, call or email them and ask for it? Ask your fiancé to go ahead and ask them. The worse that can happen is they tell him they won't be able to send it to him after he moves, in that case, he can get it just get one before he moves.

Again, we won't be using that, so I might be wrong; but can your fiance access his banking account through the internet? If so, couldn't he then print his bank history (sorry if I used the wrong term)?

The test of courage comes when we are in the minority. The test of tolerance comes when we are in the majority.

Oops... only just saw this reply, days & days later - thanks, JaJo (wasn't being totally ignorant and failing to respond, I just neglected to check back for replies... )... he's going to ask the bank about the letter in advance - seems a good idea, after reading about people having trouble getting their banks to provide the right info. He doens't have internet banking or anything as it's just a small credit union (I'm not even sure they have telephone banking - I think you can only speak to them during the hours they're open!), but the advantage of that is - he says - that they're pretty helpful and flexible as opposed to the kind of robotic staff you might find in other places. He's not spoken to them yet (he's in the midst of house-move-organising panic, bless!), but fingers crossed they'll be ok with it. Will just have to make sure he gets an answer from them *before* moving house, in case they want him to turn up in person to collect the letter...

Thanks again... you've answered lots of my silly panicky posts, and I'm very grateful! :)
