Did your Japanese fiancee need to send fingerprints for an overseas Police Report request?

My fiancee is a Japanese Citizen and I am a US citizen. She needs a Police Report from Australia. I have not seen anywhere where the US Embassy ask for fingerprints for a K-1 Visa, but it was mentioned on the Australia Police Website that it may be required in some cases. She is definitely not a criminal. Any experience with this? Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
