How odd as you would think if they wasn't happy with everything he wouldn't of been assigned a interview date.really hope he doesn't have to pay again, but best of luck

All I've seen recently is sometimes if they suspect an issue with the X-Ray they'll call you in for a second one or something. Odd that they haven't explained why, either.

The no explanation is weird. Hey just pop back by the clinic from Scotland. I'm afraid I would be a bit more demanding of explanation.

Seems so strange... I agree with Nich-Nick,

I would start demanding answers. Best of luck.. So sorry this is happening.

Hey guys, here is an update on our case. The second "medical" they requested was actually a psych exam, however they only asked him questions about his previous visas and our relationship and the times I have visited him. Kinda seems like they want to make sure our relationship is genuine, but I don't know why they couldn't have asked those questions during the interview.

Our case was updated on friday (18th) but our status still says AP. I am really hoping to hear good news this week. Otherwise I might just go to Scotland to see him because its been 10 months and I am tired of waiting and being apart. Wish us luck for good news this week :)

I must have missed this post, so catching up with the plot now.

Was it Knightsbridge asking those questions? I wonder if they forgot to do the tick box for the mental health portion on their forms, so the embassy needed them to complete the exam. The embassy wouldn't need a doctor to evaluate your relationship.

When the doctor is chatting to anybody about the weather, your move, or fiancé, he is really evaluating whether you are a cuckoo or not so he can tick off mental health is normal. The form reads--

Mental status (including mood, intelligence, perception, thought processes, and behavior during examination)

I'm guessing maybe they were going down the list and skipped the last line, so the exam was incomplete.

I guess that is possible. It makes sense. He did go back to Knightsbridge. He said when he got there they told him the embassy requested a psych exam and a psychologist came in to speak with him. Besides the basic any history of drugs/depression issues, all the questions were about his previous visas and our relationship. That was 3 weeks ago. There have been 2 updates, but it still says AP.

Got an email from my congressman's office. They received an email from the embassy saying that the report from his 2nd medical has not been added to his file yet, and when it is added processing will continue. UGH! the report was received over a week ago how long does it take to stick it in his file?? This whole mistake made by the doctor has already cost us a month and here we are still waiting. Really sorry what you're going through. Really sucks that you're made to suffer from a simple mistake their end. Hope it resolves itself soon, and I'm sure it will. It's interesting how Nich Nick said that when they have chit-chat with you that they're really analysing your behaviour. I never really thought of that at the time. I was just chatting away to the Knightsbridge doctor about all sorts of stuff and thought she was just being friendly, didn't think she was analysing my mood etc.

Thanks Queen–I hope its resolved soon too. What Nick Nich said is really interesting, and its the only explanation that makes any sense. But because of this delay I am using the vacation days I saved for the wedding to go visit him. 10 months apart is far too long and we still don't know when it'll be finished.

It shouldn't be much longer, just waiting for them to process the latest medical update....maybe 2 weeks?

So I'm curious about this odd thing most people don't do. You said they chatted about his previous visas. How many and what kind did he have? And how did he act at the embassy? did he get angry or do anything that might cause them to want his mental state evaluated again? Any substance charges on his police report or citations for fighting maybe? Just wondering if they wanted a little more than the tick box for normal or abnormal.

Yes. He said at his second Knightsbridge appointment he was asked about his previous visas and the thought process behind them as well as stuff about our relationship.

When I met him he was here on an 8 month seasonal work visa (1 of 4 that he's held, and he never overstayed). When we got more serious, he decided to go back to school and earn a masters. He wanted to go to school in the states so we could be together while he did it. That request for a student visa got denied for lack of ties. A year later he tried again and got denied again after 4 months of AP (lack of ties again). A year after that denial we started the K1 process and he has been doing his Master's in the UK.

He is very cautious about all of this and I am sure he would not have acted angry or defensive at all during the appointment. He has a clean record and no history of drug abuse. So the only explanation we could think of was that they want to make sure he isn't just trying to get to the US any way he can. But if that were the case, why wouldn't they have just asked those questions in the interview?
