I guess that's why I don't get as fired up about healthcare.

I had to get a hep vaccine before travelling to Hong Kong this summer and it was $0. The people at the pharmacy were amazed. BUT, I should also point out two previous pharmacy's one was like $600 and the other didn't have it. But I think that was a result of poor pharmacy training and lax standards. The inconsistency is nearly all of the root problem IMO.

What about the housing market? Its like 400k-500K for a town house in Mississauga. I don't know if I can handle that much debt.

Funny you mention Mississauga cause wifey and I were looking in that area too. She has family in Burlington and Oakville, which are really nice too. Although I think Oakville would be a little above my pay grade. I really do like it there, my only problem is finding the work.

Well, its not peanuts here. $300K will easily get you a 2500 square foot house built in the last ten years. I'm pretty anti-debt so i usually shy away from things I can't directly afford.

HEPA and HEPB. I had to get both to go to the Philippines as well. My HMO covered both, plus the malaria pills, and a bottle of antibiotics in case I caught the trots.

As far as antibiotics, what you buy in the Philippines is not always what you pay for, and since Filipinos never take the full scrip when they get them, just until they feel better, so they have something next time they get sick, the bacteria over there is particularly resistant to most antibiotics they sell over the counter. The antibiotic they gave me was Cipro.

Yeah, that's what I keep trying to get my wife to understand. 6% sales tax and next to nothing on a State income tax is pretty nice. Canada may be nice, but 13% sales tax and nearly double price on retail items can kiss my a$$.

Check out the tax rate in Quebec. It's WAY up there. The PST is 9.975%. That's 14.975% when you add in the GST.

Laugh, I just noticed they changed the name from PST to QST. Gotta love Quebec.
