I was denied entry into the US on my B1/B2 visa, the immigration officer said I didn't have enough documents to support my claim to stay for 1 month. My boyfriend (now fiance) wants to petition for a fiance visa. Will it affect my K1 visa application? Thanks guys!

No but you will need to declare that it happened when asked. It won't be an issue, though.

I was also denied on B-2 visa a few years ago. As long as you are not lied on your B-2 visa application, you should fine, i.e, you wanted to see your boyfriend but instead you were saying something else in fact you were in relationship back then. There are a few VJers here got denied on K-1 visa because they did not tell the truth on previous applications.Good luck for your journey!

See your timeframe when you applied for B-2 visa and you've started relationship with your fiancé. The CO would see that obviously. When you said visiting a friend in fact your fiancé, it means you were concealed your intention come to visit to US.

Some Vjer had the experience. He wrote in another post over here, his fiancée (from China) applied B-2 visa they approved it. At the time she did not mention her then-boyfriend in application. When the K-1 interview came, CO asked a few questions and found out that she visited her then-boyfriend back then. Her B-2 visa was revoked and K-1 visa was denied. They are now married and filed for CR-1/IR-1 visa.

If you asked me, is it a lie, when you said it is not a lie, oh well, I have no opinion then. Trust your heart and may the odds be ever in your favor, good.gif .

Edited: When I applied for B-2 visa, I put," I want to visit my boyfriend" and they gave me a yellow paper stating," consider apply I-129F for K-1 visa".

You should've applied for K1 in the first place instead or you should've mentioned that he is your boyfriend. A "Friend" is way different that a "Boyfriend" who is your "Fiancee" now. Just hang in there hopefully it will be ok!

What you say is irrelevant. "Friend" is not actually accurate is it? And thus can cause problems down the line. I mention what you say is irrelevant because many people have traveled to visit boyfriends, fiancé's, spouses, successfully without having to call them 'friend'. What really matters is showing why one must return to his/her home country. That carries more weight than what one says.

OP - I was denied TWICE! As long as it was a simple denial you are ok, was anything written in your passport?

good luck

I am engaged since 2010 to my american Fiance and I tried to take a tourist visa back in August 2010 to visit him and his family and friends. And actually,in the forms, they just gave me options to choose between friend, fiance or spouse, not boyfriend! We were good friends back then when I tried to take the visa! We were getting romantically involved. And even if I wanted to mention him as a "boyfriend", I couldnt, because I dindt have that option in the forms.

I personally think its irrelevant to be honest.

We are about to send our package next week to the USCIS to start our visa k1 visa process. I think they will check if we are in an ongoing relationship, bona fide relationship, and not if we were friends or boyfriends by the time I tried to take a tourist visa.

For sure, they gonna bring it up in our interview, and I will tell'em the truth, that my visa was denied due to lack of ties with my country!
