I am not sure if this is the right place for my question.. If it is not, please feel free to direct it elsewhere.

Here is my situation:

I am a Chinese, just finished up school on F-1 visa and my OPT has started on July 16,2013. My husband is a Chinese working in US with a H1-B visa.

I plan to apply for a change of status from OPT to H4 by the end of September, (say Sep 26, 2013). I was noticed by the international student advisor of my school that the processing may take 3 to 6 months. If I depart U.S. while a change of status is pending, my application will be considered abandoned and canceled.

I plan to go back to China in early December and apply for an H4 visa at U.S. consulate in Beijing at that time. I don't think my application of change of status can be approved by then due to the slow processing. So, it means that my application will be cancelled when I depart U.S. And, I was told that the US consulate in Beijing will certainly have access to this information.

Here is my question:
Will the canceled application jeopardize or affect my H4 visa application in Beijing?

Your suggestions experiences would be greatly appreciated.
