you can but you need to arrange it in advance, I think you have to use the contact form to ask the embassy, then you will be on the list at security. There is quite a lot of hanging about queuing and waiting though.

Yes, the USC can attend the interview. My then fiance did in June. We had to inform the Embassy and they e-mailed back to say it was okay and his name would be 'on the door'. Remember that they need to take their US passport for ID and take a copy of the e-mail that you receive from the Embassy as confirmation.

The USC can accompany you to both the first window, where you hand over paperwork, and the second window, where the actual interview takes place.
