Well I just entered the USA (Philadelphia ) from the UK on a k1 visa on Friday wow those immigration guys are so welcoming...NOT!! After he checked the passport and packet he just barked "you've got 90 days to get married" and slung my passport across the counter! Anyway thankfully my fiancée welcome was a lot better!

On to my question.. Is it still the case to wait 2 weeks before applying for a SSN and I'm not sure if I got a form i94?? Or do I go online and apply for one??

As always your help is much appreciated :)

Now that they are doing electronic I-94 you go here to retrieve your I-94:https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html;jsessionid=rKc1SQTBnGQcFvPRyTKsBsHVLpl624N1lYTznDnvJQMJRP4CSmkn!271044983 . The I-94 should be there immediately although some have reported that it takes a bit of time.

The 2 weeks rule for the SSN still stands as your info needs to be inputed to the SAVE (System of Alien Verification for Entitlements) system.

Blessings on the rest of your journey.

You should no longer have to wait the two weeks for SSN. I just read that on the Social Security website and it verified what I had guessed was true since the I-194 went automated. Automation means it no longer is manually entered onto the SAVE database. Nobody has to copy it from a paper I-94. It is instantly there electronically.

That's what I was thinking as well. If you can print out the I-94 then your information is in the system and the SSA should be able to see it. Once you print the I-94, go to the SSA.
