I think every classroom should be armed with a bazooka and trained mercenary personnel.

Schools would be protected, gun lovers can keep their guns, and our children can become less educated because they will be too focused on the gun totters in school.

Sounds like a good plan. All aboard say "aye."

Get ready for the high fives from our resident gun aficionados.

I have been a voting member of the NRA for 40 years and this is the first I heard this discription. I have voted in every BoD election since 1973, and never heard this. Amazing!

Funny. I left the NRA in 1980, because exactly what she said was happening happened.

In its early days, the National Rifle Association was a grassroots social club that prided itself on independence from corporate influence.

While that is still part of the organization's core function, today less than half of the NRA's revenues come from program fees and membership dues.

The bulk of the group's money now comes in the form of contributions, grants, royalty income, and advertising, much of it originating from gun industry sources.

Since 2005, the gun industry and its corporate allies have given between $20 million and $52.6 million to it through the NRA Ring of Freedom sponsor program. Donors include firearm companies like Midway USA, Springfield Armory Inc, Pierce Bullet Seal Target Systems, and Beretta USA Corporation. Other supporters from the gun industry include Cabala's, Sturm Rugar & Co, and Smith & Wesson.

However, interestingly enough, the legitimate firearms industry itself actually supports the kind of background checks the NRA opposes.

The trade group for the nation’s leading firearm manufacturers said it will not actively oppose the expansion of background checks, which are designed to prevent guns from reaching criminals or the seriously mentally ill.

“That’s more the NRA’s issue,” Steve Sanetti, president of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), said in an interview. “From the commercial side, we’re already there, and we’ve been there, and we were the ones that have been the strongest proponents of an effective, complete background check.”

Why did people resist the last background check law? It was fairly clean by the end (as far as congress goes).

Because the NRA told them that it was a steping stone to gun coniscation and eventual execution. They're a gullible bunch, you know?

For example,

Something is mentally wrong when you by clothes for your gun, take it walking, give it it's own separate bed, give an allowance for college, arrange marriages, for example mate your ak47 with your sawed off shotgun, etc.

Just a couple of examples.

Maybe...... Not so clean backgrounds?........

Computers will be the end of these folks, and they know it. Why do you think they want to avoid leaving a paper trail?

"I am sorry Mr. Whacko, your periodic mental health screening mandated by Obamacare shows you are a paranoid schizophrenic. You can not have any firearms within your immediate control. Our database shows you and your household own the following firearms. The local law enforcement is on their want to collect all those plus any other firearms you have possible access to. Your employer has been informed. Once all the firearms are collected, you will have thirty days to contest this determination."

Hahahahahahahahahahaha now if they just did mental health background checks before they allow these people to breed the world would be safer.

It's funny how a certain poster keeps saying he's not going to discuss the issue, yet has more posts in this thread than any other member. I'm starting to wonder if he has a case of lead poisoning. I don't think you're supposed to put the bullets in your mouth.

Symptoms may be different in adults and children; the main symptoms in adults are headache, abdominal pain, memory loss, kidney failure, male reproductive problems, and weakness, pain, or tingling in the extremities
