Goodmorning guys,

I am curious as to I've been following content on here and some timelines seem to have 7 to 9 months processing time. Are these instances where the case may have some issue or missing documents? Has anyone had there K1 within the processing time of 5 months? It would help us to know how we can avoid delays. Our wedding date is already cray5ol.gif

Hey there,

Some feedback on our application is that we were really hopeful looking at quoted timelines, but the reality is (as will be repeated I'm sure) that every case is different.

We have done everything correctly first time, and sent information off the day we have had it requested with no RFEs and It's still taken us 8 months to get here and I haven't even had my interview yet. We pushed back our wedding but have now decided just to wait on the visa as it causes too much hassle to boom and rebook all the time...

Nope, in most cases it has nothing to do with missing documents. Once you send your petition to USCIS it basically sits there on a table with hundreds of other cases until someone decides to look at your stuff. If you check the timelines here on VJ, you'll see that it can take a month for USCIS to look at your case, or two, or three, or six. You should definitely not count on your visa being issued in 5 months, even if you're 100% sure you sent USCIS everything that's required. I think the safest thing to do is wait until you find out when you're going to be interviewed to pick a wedding date.

I agree with M&G,

You should definately not plan for 5 months. I just got my 129F approved in three months, and that was very fast when compared to others here. So the back part of this I'm expecting to take 3 months plus some time to book travel to the US. I think it would be agreesive to plan an 8 month timeline, and conservative to plan a 12-15 month time line. I know, you don't like to hear this, but you should manage your expectation now. But it really depends on your situation (ie. proof of relationship, proper paperwork, any issue in prior visas, etc).

It took us five just to get to NOA2 (no RFE's) and realistically (though different countries differ, I imagine) I'm not going to get an interview for another month at least. We filed in Feb and I am hoping all is done by xmas. But I'm not booking anything until that visa is in my hand.

Expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised...

Our appointment is on the 22nd of Oct for the interview and that's 5 months from when we got our NOA1. That's pretty fast. (Well considering the government process.)

Our petition got approved after 2 months and 2 weeks, waited 1 month more for the case number and my interview date will be october 15, that is roughly 1 week before we hit the 5 month mark, i could have done it earlier but chose that date for some reason but it is possible to have your visa in 5 months but very highly unlikely to be likat that, just a small percentage maybe. hope this helps

August 9, 2013 - Petition Approved; NOA2

September 12, 2013 - Got our Manila Case Number

September 13, 2013 - Paid VISA fee through BPI ; scheduled appointment and medicals

September 17, 2013 - Medical at SLEC; passed in one day

September 20, 2013 - done with CFO seminar pre departure orientation seminar

October 7, 2013 - Interview at USEM (Visa Approved)

October 16, 2013 - Visa on hand

October 17, 2013 - went back to CFO for the sticker

November 9, 2013 - Flight to LAX, got to LAX safely

There definitely is no guarantee for any kind of timeline for this process. My fiance and I started everything in January of this year, we've had no missing documents, no RFEs, etc. and just finally had the visa interview today, 8 months later. Some are sooner, some are later, it all just depends on how busy the offices are and (I think) the luck of the draw. I would suggest not making any concrete plans until you have a visa in hand. :) Best of luck to you!

I mailed out my petition on July 05.

The appointment date is 10/28/13

If we get the visa on Nov 5, 2013, that will make it exacty 4 months to the date of mailing.

I am simply amazed how fast it is moving for me.

Please keep in mind that some dates are only known after receipt of another document.
For example, the USPS Form 3811. The stamped receiving date was not know until the original Form 3811 was received on 07/13/2013 1:30 p/m CST.
