Hi ,

I have a couple questions regarding the b-2 visa process . My wifes grandmother will be applying for it thru the Bogato embassy . My question is she is 81 , will she have to attend an interview at the embassy? I know that the application is done online now , if she does'nt need to go for the interview , how does she get her supporting documents in for consideration , she owns her home and has a sizeable pension .

Thanks

Most applicants are required to appear personally at the Consular Section to apply for a U.S. visa. However, certain applicants may be exempt from that requirement based on their age.

Regardless her age she has to be interviewed at the Bogota embassy and she has to be approved by herself. I have someone that they did the same and she went back to Colombia to help in the process after 6 months and at the time of the interview she was denied.

I do not know the whole history details.

Good luck in your B-2 visa pursuing and remember nothing is written in stone and not all the cases are the same, just be ready for an extended processing timeline and due to the significant increase in the processing time backlogs for almost all immigration cases at this time.

I'm confused , it does state persons over 80 can be exempt from interview. If she is able to get exemption , how does she submit her supporting docs?

Simply follow the link tha apple21 provided above. If you read down, under specifics, you will see that the applicant will be given an option of a DHL document pickup and dropoff point. Good luck.
