I am the petitioner of my wifes I-130 and I have called the USCIS twice.

The first time they told me that my papers were at the Atlanta field office

and had been there since February. I called the 2nd time just the other

day and asked the Tier 2 officer if she could tell me if our papers was

just sitting in a box some where or if someone was looking at them.

She first tells me that its possible they are still in the box then she

says I can tell you as of August 26th an officer is looking at your

papers. I am a January 22nd 2013 filer is this a good sign and

should I believe the Tier 2.

I doubt it. Why not make an infopass appointment so you can talk to the actual people who have your petition in the office you are at and they can tell you. I know Atlanta is the slowest 9 months to a year is the norm there.

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

when I learned my casefile was a local office,

I got an infopass appointment and went in.

You should do the same.

I hate this local office transfer.

I posted about it, my stuff, over at

Yea, people are underpaid for such a sensitive matter. They are taking their time with these visa applications. Thankfully my Petition was forwarded from Atlanta to the I-130 expedite time. Good Luck!
