If the House and the Senate can't come to an agreement on a budget, this will have a bad effect on all aspects of our Visa situations. USCIS will not be able to accept any new applications, will not be able to process any applications already in the pipeline, and the Department of State will not be able to complete applications received from the NVC, nor send P4's to our fiancees.

I am hoping that interviews will still be held for a while, and K1 Visas sent out.

All visa chasers who have interviews scheduled in October should be worried - very concerned. I know I am. Our interview is October 9, and our wedding is tentatively scheduled for November 9

Consular stuff for IV Unit, supposedly, are pre-paid via fees.

That's it, that's all, that's the only input I have. Course, I've a fear her recently approved visa not get out the door before 1 OCT, so I'm watching this stuff closely, as well.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Does anyone know how a government shutdown on Tuesday, if it happens, will affect USCIS? I have read somewhere that USCIS is self funded from the fees we all pay but I am not sure if that is true. My interview along with many other people's oaths and interviews is next month so trying to find out if anyone knows anything about it.

Google "government shutdown and immigration" and you will find lots of articles, as well as threads on message boards.

After 10 months of waiting, my visa finally got approved on Friday September 27! Now I'm just really worried there's going to be a huge delay receiving me passport and visa... Ridiculously unlucky... So close to being reunited with my fiance, this is really upsetting. (sorry just needed to share/vent)

There's already a massive topic on the Shutdown but I'll add what I've read in the superthread (wherever it is now, might be in General Immigration).

A bit like Darnell said, the Embassies have funding of some sort but basically once that runs out, then they'll stop until the shutdown ends.

"What's yours is mine!"
