I wonder if I should send my I130 or not? I had it prepared for a while now but since this shutdown happened, I haven't sent it because I don't want my package to get lost

Your package won't get lost. USCIS isn't affected by the shutdown. Send it when you can because processing times seem to just keep getting longer and longer, and you don't want to send it in too late and then have to wait a huge amount of time. Just saying.

I'm getting kinda anxious! I petitioned with an I-130 for my wife Alexandra (Dominican Republic) in August 2013 and have only gotten an NOA1 and still waiting for our NOA2? It was filed with the National Benefits Center (MSC), however I wonder if the government shutdown has anything to do with immigration visas being processed? Anyone have any news?

I filed an I-130 on January 14, 2013 and only received an NOA2 on May 31, 2013. That's Four and a Half months - which seemed to be in line with the norm. Good luck!

12/27/2012 Married in Sri Lanka

1/13/2013 Mail I-130

1/14/2013 NOA 1 Date - case at National Benefits Center

2/27/2013 - File transferred from NBC to my local field office in Santa Ana

5/23/2013 - File transferred from Santa Ana field office to the Los Angeles field office (not sure why)

5/31/2013 NOA 2 Date


Time for transfer from USCIS Field office to NVC = 73 days!!! (No idea why)


NVC (57 days; 42 business days)

8/12/2013 NVC Receives Case

8/26/2013 Case Number, INN, BIN Assigned (10 business days after receipt)

8/26/2013 DS 3032 (Choice of Agent) emailed by beneficiary

8/28/2013 Received emails with AOS Invoice and DS 3032

8/28/2013 AOS Fee invoiced online and paid.

8/29/2013 AOS Documents mailed via fed ex overnight

Has anyone had an interview in the past couple days? My fiance's interview is a week from Monday (interview oct 21) in London. I'm hoping things are still running as normal, I'm getting nervous. We are hoping he will be here by early November.

Here we are, 14 days into it now, and no hint of an end in sight. So far our petition has been 7 days in transit to Algeria's consulate.. Who knows if the shut down will slow our process or not.

Hi guyz, i like to know if the nvc office is currently working and doing cases or the they shutdown too. Am about to start the whole process with my wife and wanna know if we can go ahead or wait till the shutdown is called off. is the shutdown affecting the nvc or the visa offices?
