This is the first I heard of this "shut down". It's fascinating.

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

Maybe this is a naive question, but will there be an effect on US citizenship application timelines because of this ridiculous government shutdown?

No because the process is funded not from taxes/government but from fees. You did pay at least $600 so it's the least you could expect smile.png

Agreed :-). However, I also pay taxes and expecting my government to remain open is also the least that I could expect ;-). Anyway, just glad the answer is a resounding NO!. I also found an article explaining it some more www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/federal-eye/wp/2013/09/30/how-would-a-shutdown-impact-homeland-security.

Actually, although we do pay uscis so they will be able to operate on that budget as it's outside of congressional monies, uscis relies on other parts of the government for things such as background checks etc. I'd expect that stuff to be slowed up quite a bit as it's not a "priority".

I guess that makes sense :-(. Sadly.

Bummer! I wonder if scheduled interviews and biometrics appointments will go ahead?
