Local gun aficionado at work. Another one of those "law abiding gun owners" that apparently decided one fine day in broad daylight at a busy intersection that he obeyed the law long enough.

Victim: Road rage may have led to Causeway Blvd. shooting
Published: September 16, 2013

A victim in a shooting Monday evening at an intersection near Brandon told deputies she believes their pickup was targeted by another driver in a road-rage incident, the sheriff’s office said.

A 45-year-old Brandon man, who was a passenger in the targeted Ford F-150, was expected to survive wounds to the leg, chest and arm, deputies said.

The driver of the Ford, a 45-year-old Brandon woman, was not injured in the incident, which occurred at 6:08 p.m. on Causeway Boulevard, deputies said.

“The driver of the Ford thinks that she may have cut the suspect off while driving and that this was an act of road rage,” sheriff’s spokeswoman Cristal Bermudez Nunez said in a news release.

The vehicles were eastbound on Causeway, stopped at the traffic light, when the gunman got out of a white, newer model SUV, approached the Ford’s passenger side and fired twice at the passenger, deputies said.

The shooter returned to his vehicle and drove south on U.S. 301, deputies said.

The passenger was taken via ambulance to Tampa General Hospital.

But all those guns out there surely make this a much safer and kinder community.
