If you have a Consulate in your city, they will make a certified translation for you. You can also contact the nearest Consulate and make arrangements to send a copy of the doc to the Embassy (here in the US) for translation and return to you.

I would like to add that at Instituto H. Pardini (a medical laboratory in Brasil), we paid R$57 for the Hepatitis B vaccine, and $R39 for the Influenza vaccine. These prices are as of Jan 12 2007

The hepatitis B vaccine is given for free in Postos de Saúde.

It's true (about the posto). My fiance paid nothing for vaccines, blood tests, or the x-ray. But I think we were just lucky - at least these are done with too. One less thing to check off on the list ::

I also didn't pay anything for my vaccines....but the blood tests and X-ray I had to pay. I actually got a discount at Sergio Franco because of my husband's health insurance (but I am a dependent). So I paid about R$ 60 for both blood tests.

We found that Hepatitis B was not available at our local posto de saude, and they would only give the influenza vaccine to the elderly. We had no choice but to pay. I am wondering about pertussis (coqueluche). Our posto said that it is only given to those under 19. Anyone know which vaccines a healthy 24 year old woman doesn't need?

Also, apparently in Belo Horizonte the blood tests and x-ray are included in the $100 price tag.

You're lucky then if the x-ray and blood test are for free. I had to pay for them ( X-Ray R$ 35,00 and Blood Test R$ 56,00) besides having to pay the $ 100.00 to the doctor. I also had to pay for a few vaccines I couldn't find for free (Influenza shot R$ 30,00 (twice so R$ 60.00), Varicella shot R$ 80,00 (twice again so 160.00) )

I'm no doctor, but one thing I know is that if she takes a shot because her doctor said so (and yes if her doctor says so she'll have to take them) she won't get a disease or die because of it, it might not have the proper effect but it won't hurt.
