BRAZIL - Vaccination Record

My Fiancee does not have a vaccination card that lists all her past vaccinations. Her physical exam is Dec 11. After the results of the blood tests to determine what vaccines she's had in the past and after she receives the required shots, will the Doctor give her a Vaccination card? Or is this something she needs to request afterwards?

Thanks

The place where she goes take her shots she can ask for a vaccination card. After she shows the doctor she took all the shots he/she asked her to, the doctor will include on her medical all the vaccines she has had and one copy she will keep, the other will be in the sealed medical exam that she has to take with her to the Consulate on her interview date.

Is she requesting for a blood test to see which vaccines she has had? I didn't take that test (the doctor in Curitiba didn't give me that option) and I had to take all the vaccines I couldn't prove i've had and I knew I've had because of that. If she can take the test that will tell which ones she needs that will be great, so she doesn't have to waste money or time or be in pain just because she couldn't prove she took the shots.

I hope it helps.

Thanks nessaandcharles,

When she made the appointment, they asked if she had a vaccination record. When she said "No", they told her they'd be using blood tests to determine which vaccinations she had. I just called her a few minutes ago and told her to remember to get a vaccination card from her Doctor! We'll need it at Adjustment of Status and maybe beyond.

Joey,

the doctor will only give her the statement after she shows she had the vaccinations required. The tetanus shot is valid for 10 years, so is the yellow fever one - she can get those for free at any posto de saude. If she doesn't take those here, and it's been more than 10 years after her last shot, she'll have to take them after arriving in the US.

She has to pay for the influenza shot. People under 65 usually don't take that vaccine here.

She'll be receiving Tetanus and yellow fever tomorrow tat the examination. The I-693A is the document that I want her to get from the Doctor. After the process, and they discover the vaccinations she had before, and they give her the tetnaus and yellow fever, she will get the I-693A Vaccination Record, correct?

Vaccination requirements varies depending on age and other factors. I didn't have my vaccination sheet either, so I took all the shots I could for free (tetanus+diphteria, yellow fever and hepatitis) even before we got NOA1.

If she or the doctor has the results from the blood test, I don't see why she wouldn't get her vaccination record. Just remember to tell her to ask the doctor for a translated copy - I read somewhere that some doctors just don't give you a copy (and it IS her right as a costumer). I'm also thinking about asking the doctor when I have my medical to give me a copy of their statement (sealed if necessary) so I can provide it at AOS (probably me being way over OCD and wanting to overkill...I'm almost sure they use the one from our K1 for that, but...)

To my knowledge yellow fever is not required for the visa and doctors in the foreign

country at the medical can not give out the I-693A. She has to ask for a

DS-3025 vaccination worksheet. Then take this to a civil surgeon here who

will transfer the info to I-693A. Double check this but I think I am correct.

As far as I know the doctor should tell her which vaccines she needs, according to her age. I took some of them before I went to the medical, according to the package 3. When I called to make the medical appointment his secretary told me which ones I should have. I even took Influenza, which the doctor told me later wasn't necessary.

I'd advise her to try and get all the ones that she needs at the Posto de Saúde in Brazil, because they are for free. I have to finish taking some here (Hepatitis B and Tetanus) and I heard they are quite expensive.

Make sure that she does get a copy of the vaccination record so you won't have to go through the trouble of civil surgeons for the AOS charging hundreds of dollars.

Well, my doctor didn't give me a copy of the vaccination records.

And he doesn't have one.

I heard USCIS don't ask for a new medical examination when you submit the form for AOS if it's less than 1 year old.

They ask for the vac. records.

Some people told me if we took the vaccinations in Brazil and the records are inside the packet we submit when applying for the K1, we don't need to submit that either.

I just want to avoid spending hundreds of dollars at CS. But I also want to avoid an RFE.

What do you guys KNOW about that?

Lis,

BTW, the names of thoses shots in english aren't all that different from the ones in portuguese...If you find a doctor with enough good will, they'll know what it is all about.
