Hello Everyone

I applied for my social security card July 26, 2013, right after I received my EAD. When I went to my local ssa office they gave me a paper saying that I have to wait up to 4 weeks for approval. However it has been two months. Every time I go to SSA office, they tell me that they cant help and to contact USCIS but USCIS cant seem to help me either. They keep telling me that DHS has not cleared my social. But its been 2 months. Does anyone know any tips on how to get my Social Security. I really need to get a license and need to start applying for schools.

You should contact one of your congressional representative for assistance.

I say something was wrong the day you applied.

IMO - you need to be a bit pushy at the office, doing the following stuff:

1. go into the SSA office

2. ask for a supervisor

3. ask for status of DHS verification

4. ask to be looked up in the SAVE database system

now - with 3 - if they have no record of you, then the clerk dropped the ball and was full of ####### back at day 0. This is common.

when 4 is done, and they find you - they can take a new SS-5 application right there. If this is the case, go through with the application process, and then go back the next day to get the SS number (not the card). Then wait for the card to arrive.

If the supervisor finds it's lost after sending out for DHS Verification, that's a problem. I not know how to fix this, except to beg for another application to be accepted there at that office.

Sorry you're having such problems.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
