K1 visa

My fiance attempted to get a tourist visa 6 months ago to come to the US. He was declined by the embassy in Nigeria. At the time it was his intention to come to visit. No reason was given as to why his request was declined. Now we are gathering the information needed for a K1 visa. How much will the first application count against him even though he was given no reason as to why it was declined? Could the first application be reason to decline this application? I've heard many nightmarish stories of the US embassy in Nigeria and any help will be welcomed.

The tourist visa denial has absolutely no bearing on the K1 visa. My wife was denied a tourist visa also and they didn't even ask about that at all. And remember for the tourist visa - you are trying to establish that you will come back whereas on K1 you are telling them that you aint coming back no more no more no more! Good Luck

I agree, the previous B2 rejection will not have an effect on the K1.

My husband was denied a tourist visa in Morocco prior to applying for the K-1 and it was never brought up, nor did it cause any problems. You might want to post in the Sub-Saharan Africa forum to see if anyone there has had any experience with this.

B2 visa has no implication on K1, unless it was denied for criminal offence or security measure
