I've searched the forum and believe I understand all of the steps I need to do to correct this but I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything. Today I received an email from USCIS stating the hard copy NOA2 was undeliverable and returned to post office:

On September 20, 2013, the post office returned the notice we last sent you on this case I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) as undeliverable. This may have serious effects on processing this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update your mailing address for this notice to be re-sent.

My fiancee in the Philippines has had issues received mail in the past and obviously it happened again here.

I was thinking of updating her address to her Grandmother/Aunt's house since that's where I mail most of my fiancee's things due to problems with her address.

1. Will that cause any issues with K-1 process using that address?

2. When I call USCIS to update address should I tell them it's a relatives address or just tell them I need to update?

From my research I think what I need to do now is:

- Call USCIS to update address

- To be safe also update address online

- Call NVC to inform them of new address as well (I called them this week to see if they had received our petition yet and they had not)

3. Am I missing anything that needs to be done to correct this?

4. If I understand right this should not delay the process much since NOA2 hard copy is really only needed for AOS?

Thank you so much in advance for any suggestions or help. God bless.

April 25, 2013 - I-129F packet sent.
May 5, 2013 - NOA1 (Notice by text message and Email)
September 02, 2013 - NOA2 (Notice by text message and Email) [Took 117 days]

September 20, 2013 - NOA2 undeliverable, returned to post office (notice by text and Email)

I had similiar situation as you.The address will not cause you anything and you just need to tell them the new address.

You said USCIS has approved your case, hence you dont need to call USCIS to change address but you definitely need to call them to get NOA2 for AOS later.

Since your approval has not received by NVC, you cant update in NVC. If your case has been shipped to Embassy, then you need to contact Embassy to update address.

Note that your approval will stay at NVC very short time, you need to catch them before it ships to Embassy.

To make sure I understand correctly, I need to get ahold of NVC after they've received approval but before shipping to Embassy?

Since she's had trouble receiving mail in the past wouldn't it be a good idea to update address with USCIS?

Thank you very much!!!

When you got approved, USCIS has nothing to do with your file. It done at USCIS because you no longer have pending case.

Same as NVC, when your file has been shipped to Embassy, NVC wont do anything about it. You need to contact Embassy.

Keep in touch with NVC, but I will recommend to call DOS instead of NVC because it is quicker to talk with visa specialists and DOS has better knowledge than NVC.

The NOA2 could not be delivered to your (petitioner's) US address.

The notice is not talking about the beneficiary's Philippine address.

Wow, thanks for the info. Not sure why they could not deliver to my address where I've lived for years.

I'll call them Monday. Either way this should not delay the process, right? Thanks/

My fiancee, beneficiary should still be receiving NOA2 in mail also, correct? And that is all she should need, yes? Thanks.

K-1 visa chasing?

You need that NOA-2, for later approval of status stuff once yer married.

I suggest using the advanced search too here, again, from a PC.

search terms: 'returned mail pieces'

member name: 'Darnell'

click on 'Display as posts'

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Not for a K-1, no. Petitioner receives NOA-2 via postal mail.

However, Manila IV has been sending stuff to the beneficiary prior to interview date, it's been very strange, the contents of the packet.

If you wish to know more about K-1 visa chasing for Manila IV, find Hank_ 's Handy-Dandy, Neeto-Keen (yet Spiffy) Guide to SuperFast K-1 Visa Chasing for Manila IV. Then read it, about 10 hours worth.

You really don't need to update the address for your fiancee in the Phils, the only mail the embassy sends never arrives for most... and you can do everything without it anyway. Nothing else is mailed to the beneficiary.

After the interview 2GO will deliver the passport with visa to your fiancee but that is about it, and her home address should be just fine for that, as 2G0 will text and/or call when they delivery the package.

Only important address is yours in the States. And you are correct the NOA2 isn't needed until AOS.

Everything for the visa application is done online for USEM. Now to wait for your MNL #

Thanks Hank! After researching further I found that my landlord who lives in the apartment above the garage I rent recently forwarded their mail to another address which was the cause of me not receiving it. Thanks again!!

We have received our MNL # and I opened a PO Box here to ensure delivery of NOA2. I called USCIS and NVC and updated my address to the PO Box (only using PO box for K-1 paperwork).

1. On I-134 should I use the PO Box address or my house address (the one that caused NOA2 returned)?

2. When I called NVC to update address they did and said our petition left the NVC for Manila two days previous...Will this cause any issues?

Thank you all in advance, couldn't do this without the support!

Did you ask a Tier 2 human at USCIS, via telephone, to send out the NOA-2 to the new address? Yes? No ?

No

I should have been more persistent with the USCIS rep over the phone to transfer me to ISO tier 2. After the standard rep said they updated the address, put me on hold, said she needed to contact someone to request it to be resent then came back and gave me confirmation #. I've read all over the forum they say whatever and to speak to tier 2 and again should have pushed harder. I plan on calling back Monday to speak with tier 2, provide conf # and request it to be resent. Thanks.
