American is in serious debt. Look at Detroit a major city BANKRUPTED. They are getting ready to raise the debt ceiling. Printing money with so many out of work is never a good things.

The federal government isn't short of money. They spend more than 3 trillion dollars per year. They just don't know how to prioritize it correctly. That's the problem. Detroit is a city and has its own finances separate from the federal government's.

I was just using Detroit as an example that it can happen. And sure the prez can order and has ordered to print more money thus the debt issue. We are printing money we can't back we produce less and less workers a year. Less workers mean less taxes paid to government.

I when I say short of money it is a fact. We have way too much debt. That is pure and simple and we can never pay and America is getting older and less workers.

I when I say short of money it is a fact. We have way too much debt. That is pure and simple and we can never pay and America is getting older and less workers.

The money going into the treasury every year, whether generated from debt issuance or tax revenues, hasn't been decreasing. It has been increasing. They're spending more money than ever before. Debt doesn't mean they are short on money. I can take out a 20,000 dollar cash out financing loan on my car but that doesn't mean I'm short on money. It means I am now 20,000 dollars richer, but just have to pay that debt off at a later date, amortized over several years. The government receives money from bond purchases by investors and in turn pays off that debt later on. In the short run it has more money to play with, while in the long run it will have to pay back more of that money. They are not short of money and won't be for quite a while until the interest on the debt becomes too big a burden to bear, which isn't for some time still.

My whole point is that the government is swimming in cash, regardless of where they got the cash. And to say they are short on funds is not correct. Just because they spend more than they take in doesn't mean they are short on cash, but like I said, cannot prioritize how to spend the gobs of money they take in. Even before the ballooning of the debt the government ran immigration and everything else fine, so to say they can't run it now when they're taking in almost the same amount of tax revenues each year is wrong. Tax revenues have run within the same range of about 2.1 trillion to 2.5 trillion ever since 2005 - well before the financial crisis and the debt issues we're now having.

Are you sure your petition is still at NBC? Have you called USCIS and asked them where your petition is at? It may be at your local office. You need to call USCIS monday. The online status will show you nothing. The stats are too new. Petitions have only been going there a year now.

And all petitions will always say initial review. All it means is its waiting and waiting.

So call USCIS. Anyone else on this third who arrived at NBC before May needs to be calling to see where their petition is than you need to be making an INFOPASS appointment to talk to a supervisor if your petition is at the local office.

I'm April NOA1 and the NBC are adament it's still with them and not been transferred. A lot of people insist on this forum to find out where their file is as it would have been transferred by now, but that totally conflicts what the NBC say or do.... Will my file ACTUALLY be transferred? And if so, why has it not been by now? V annoying.

(Side note - I actually WANT my file to be transferred as the Denver timelines are pretty good...grrrr.)

USCIS (239 days):

04.18.2013 - NOA1

01.27.2014 - Received case no. & IIN

02.07.2014 - Completed & submitted DS-261 form online

02.13.2014 - Paid AOS bill

02.18.2014 - AOS showing as 'paid'

03.18.2014 - Invoiced for IV bill (finally!)

03.19.2014 - Made payment for IV bill

03.21.2014 - IV bill showing PAID

03.24.2014 - Completed DS-260 online

04.26.2014 - IV packet all approved, false checklist from NVC for AOS packet

05.07.2014 - AOS packet sent

We're on a same situation. USCIS received my papers last March 29 & my papers are already on the 6th month and we never heard anything from them. My husband keeps on calling them but all they say is to wait wait. Btw last July my husband also filed the I-129f/K3 visa since it's free to do. Praying that the Lord will soon approve either of the 2 petitions.

More frustrating is when people ask, " Oh you are a citizen, it is so easy for you to bring your wife" Yeah, right.

I know a person who is on student visa, got married, had a kid, then brought them with no hassle. His annual pay is <17K. All he needs to show is couple thousands in bank account and salary statement. And there is no waiting time, you apply at consulate and it takes 1 or 2 months.

As a citizen, try bringing your wife and kid under 17K. Granted, the spouse cannot work, yet I don't understand why financial restrictions are so relaxed for these kind of visas. It's not a few months visitor visa. The bills they pay are same like us; so why the double standard?

Instead of sending all applications to USCIS, why can't they just do it at consulate Dept. of State level. That way USCIS can concentrate on people already in the US and DOS can deal with people outside.

Sounds to good to me but this is way straight forward in USCIS eyes. It has to be complicated, waiting, drama, RFEs, sending the same paper multiple times....

NBC was adamant with us for months that our file was staying there.. and then we found out that it had actually been transferred to Orlando months ago. And now we are waiting for it to be transferred yet again to Jacksonville. You can't really believe anything anyone tells you it seems.

IR1/CR1 Visa - We are using a lawyer!

Embassy: Montreal, Canada

USCIS

22 Jan 2013 -- packageSent
31 Jan 2013 -- NOA1 from NBC

6 Mar 2013 -- I130 transferred to Orlando local field office (which started the whole nightmare)

Mar 2013 to October 2013 no one would tell us where our case was or what was happening. I suspected the whole time it was just sitting in a corner somewhere in the Orlando field office. I was pretty much right.

October 2013 - get congressman involved. Congressman asks USCIS repeatedly about our case but they won't even tell them anything.

31 Jan 2014- finally get NOA2!!!! (we think the nightmare is over!)

NVC

Our case was not sent from the Orlando field office as it should have been. The nightmare continues. We kept calling NVC and asking if they received our case, and they always said "NO" and that we had to wait 90 business days for it to be received. We called USCIS during this time and they kept telling us it had been sent. After the 90 days of agonizing frustration, NVC then started telling us we had to wait 120 business days. I got our congressman involved again, and they told the congressman it was sitting at the Orlando office this whole time (just as I thought it was!).

22 Apr 2014 -- NVC received
16 May 2014 -- NVC case number assigned
24 May 2014 -- AoS and IV bills paid

28 May 2014 -- Sent AoS and IV Packages

6 June 2014 -- documents scanned

18 July 2014 -- false checklist from NVC

21 July 2014 -- Case complete

28 July 2014 -- receive case complete email from NV

30 July 2014 -- interview booked! September 11 here I come!

Embassy
04 Sept 2014 -- Medical
11 Sept 2014 -- Interview - APPROVED!!!!
15 Sept 2014 -- Package arrived at Loomis location!!!

try the Ombudsman, you can do the online application. You can also do service request although they will tell you no. I had to do it with a tier2 person. The Ombudsman contacted my a few weeks later after doing the online application. I really think with the help of them and my Senator I finally got my NOA2.
