None of what you posted prevents a law abiding citizen from owning a gun that wants one. So no one is actually attempting to make it illegal to own guns.

Law abiding gun owners in California have to feel uneasy after Democrats rolled out a massive gun control package on Thursday, which includes strict ammunition regulations and even a bill that allows potential confiscation of the state’s 166,000 legally registered semi-automatic rifles.

Under the sweeping gun control bills introduced by state Senate Democrats, all semi-automatic rifles with detachable magazines would be banned, all guns would be registered and gun owners would need a special permit just to buy ammunition.

Sure they are. No handguns are microstamped but the CADOJ is now requiring it. So no handgun purchases in CA next year (i'm sure there will be an injunction however.)

I don't live in California, can you explain to me what you are talking about, or better yet, give me a link to an article?

How does this make it illegal for a law abiding citizen to own a gun?

Not so much scared, but I do feel intimidated, yes. If a cop is driving behind me, for example, I'd much rather have the cop not be there. I guess I don't necessarily trust police to be good people by default -- I tend to think they like to control people and be on power trips. On the other hand, there are of course really good people who become cops, and I know and have dealt with them, so it's more of an 'until I get to know the actual cop' generalization, if that makes any sense.

It's likely my own person problem, and I felt the same intimidation even without being there when my wife and kids had visa interviews, and later when they entered the country. Something about having such immense power makes me worry a bit.

So in short you are intimidated by anyone with power not necessarily one with a gun?

dclaws_zpse176a73a.pngseems pretty restrictive....

Why? How does that relate to the conversation?

Right out the Dems in CA cannot make it illegal to own a gun, they know such a move would be challenged and they would lose that.

They are just making it difficult for anyone to own weapon, like registering to buy ammo, yearly registration, and registration of all weapon.

I wish they would similar energy in creating a database of ppl who cannot own the weapon rather than who ones one.

Well yes, restrictive is kinda what us gun control folks are looking for. Making it more difficult and more restrictive to own a gun will stop needless deaths, that's the whole point. But it does not take anyone's guns away or prevent any law abiding citizen from owning a gun that wants to.

Not exactly.

I'm intimidated by police officers because of both their power and their guns.

I'm intimidated by immigration workers because of their power to control the future of my family.

I'm intimidated by any John Doe with a gun because he could have a brief moment of mental instability, and that's all it takes for me or someone I love to get killed.

Right, that's what I've been saying, no one is attempting to make it illegal to for a law abiding citizen to own a gun.

Making it difficult for a person to own a gun is a good thing. It prevents needless deaths.

Do they prevent a law abiding citizen from owning a gun? I don't see how. If they do, please show me.

Or are you talking about the types of guns one can legally own?

In fact there are plenty of things that we come across in our daily life that can inflict damage or can even kill, you are not intimidated by them.

Any John Doe does not go killing, I had posted the link and an article in one of these threads pretty much all of these mass killings were done by ppl with mental problem and unfortunately that is not the focus at all.

It’s not banning the ownership outright but that’s the end goal.

It’s sad to see Dems pushing so hard to control the gun ownership, wanting to register every gun owner but they are not doing anything to fix the root cause of all these shootings.
