I actually understand this post. Who is this and what have you done with Darnell?

Hell, I don't like it and I'm well past the point of acceptance. We don't need to be reminded of what happened in that way. That's more of a family thing, rather than some school trying to reenact the horrors of slavery.

Hey - come on - I have moments of top-level lucidity - you've read them before

I think the group that manages the re-enactment does a great job on it.

The problem, IMO, is rather huge, though :

--school administrators not fully understand what's what

--teachers not sending off permission letters to the parents

--teachers not sending off 'full-disclosure' statements to the parents

and IMO, to go through 'full-re-enactment' should not be done without a full understanding (by the parents) of what their child will experience.

Also, IMO, I think a huge level of liberal-based complacency exists with the school administrators and teachers, thinking this 'does no harm'. Slacktards...

When my son was a child, we had him in a Piaget school from 18 months to kindergaarten, and I paid attention then, being very active in his school. I think it was my experience, there, that made me very protective of him in his later school years. Sure, I know most parents won't be able to put their child in a Piaget school for early childhood development (actual Piaget school count in the USA is abysmally small, we got lucky at the time), but since (back at post #1) this was a Magnet School - everyone has a level of expectation that the administrators 'know more' than the average ISD workers.

IMO, massive failure all the way round. Stupid to include these children in anything that might smack of being psychologically damaging, without getting the parents involved early and often. Supposedly, Magnet Schools have a higher rate of parental participation, but something really smells of putrid muck, at this school.

Since it is only about Black history one might suppose a future display of Detroit, complete with reenactments of Blacks in a failed city.

BUt lets be honest, it about "agenda" not History.

I mean how many movies dealing with slavery, feature a slave in NY or some slave brutality taking place in Penn.

How many movies show a lynching of whites or even Lynching of Blacks in Say Indiana? (A lot of lynching when on there)

My youngest catches hell at school because he has black hair. My oldest has gotten into fights in school because of his mixed heritage.

Blacks were usually sold into slavery by their own. Warring tribes found selling the opposition a good way of ending the issue.

Americans weren't the slavers they were mostly European.

South America actually received more slaves than north, however the survival rate was low and those that were expended there were routinely disposed of.

Times have changed, many things deemed ok back then slavery , leaches and the use of opium and mercury for medical treatments Grow up we know better now we didn't then

I have several friends who have children or grandchildren that have had bi-racial kids..Some of the most old school white southern grandma's and grandpa'sin the world have accepted and loved those kids.Bi-racial kids are very common at least down here..I can't imagine your's are having problems up there.

Slavery was accepted practice in many places including Africa long after the US stopped doing it. Nigerians still rate potential mates based on if their family was of slave bllod or free blood. The US no longer practices this, grow up get over it and live with the facts. Sticking ones head in the sand does not alter history.
