In a hateful tweet sent in response to Monday's Navy Yard shooting, David Guth, a journalism professor at the University of Kansas, said he hopes that children of NRA members are murdered, Campus Reform reported Thursday.

"The blood is on the hands of the #NRA," he tweeted Monday. "Next time, let it be YOUR sons and daughters. Shame on you. May God d**n you."

On Wednesday, Campus Reform said, Guth confirmed that he was the person who sent the tweet.

Hell no, hell no, I do not regret that Tweet,” he told Campus Reform. “I don't take it back one bit.”

Guth doubled down on his hatred when some took him to task for his comments.

"Shame on you, I bet you think of yourself as a christian while you are asking God to d**n people and wishing their children dead," one person said.

"God's justice takes many forms," Guth said in response.

He carried that message onto his blog, where he expressed hope that those who disagree with the concept of gun-free zones are murdered.

"I don't wish what happened today on anyone. But if it does happen again - and it likely will - may it happen to those misguided miscreants who suggest that today's death toll at the Navy Yard would have been lower if the employees there were allowed to pack heat," he wrote.

He also said his congressional representative would hear from him, and if she did not push con control to his satisfaction, he would support someone else.

He went on to literally demonize the NRA.

"There are two sides to this debate: The side of angels and the NRA," he wrote.

On Wednesday, the University of Kansas said they support Guth's right to make his hateful comments.

“Faculty have their own social media accounts and use those to express personal opinions, but those opinions do not represent the university,” spokesman Jack Martin said in an email.

Hate + Hate= more hate. Why can't anyone see that?

I don't hope that anyone or their kids get killed -- "we need to teach them a lesson" is such a stupid ideology.

With that said, are the figures on the number of accidental gun deaths VS guns being used to protect one's family / deaths prevented by having guns?

Typically when they quote gun-death figures they just give totals which would include suicides.

People who purposely take their life by gun are the bulk of gun deaths in the home.

After Australia's gun confiscation the suicide rate stayed about the same which suggests people who are going to kill themselves will just pick another way.

I don't disagree with that, and I don't have a problem with gun suicides, which I'd prefer they didn't count -- if anything, the gun makes the suicide easier for the suicidal person, as opposed to something else which could paralyze them, injure them without killing them, etc. etc.

What I'm curious about is whether guns are used more by criminals to kill people, or used by victims to kill criminals.

we see the same sort of responses here when the fascists posts are delated and TOS'd for personal attacks and off topic nonsense. They have nothing else.

I am doing my best to spread his "tweet" so everyone understands what kind of idiots we are dealing with. I won't bother to debate them.

I'm pretty anti-gun. This guy does not represent me or how I think. Oh and I denounce his statement FTR. I know how you cats are and requiring denouncements.

Unfortunately he does represent you. It does not matter if you denounce anything, it is representative of anti gun idiots and we are very happy when they do this.

This is one of the reasons no Federal Firearms laws get passed by congress. Carry on!

It represents one moron.

Just cause you says it represents EVERYONE doesn't make it so.

I don't consider every idiotic thing said on this board to represent anyone. I'd be a fool to do that.

Any idiot with a twitter account is suddenly a superstar and a voice for a group...whatever.

What? That he sent the tweet in the first place? That he admitted it and doubled down on his assertion? Or that the college didn't fire his a$$?

Like every idiot with a twitter account that says something absurd.

I was making a joke.

Should he be fired...I'd ask him to resign. That statement is outrageous.
