i wonder if it could be scanned and then sent in an email or as a word doc in messenger or something like that.i didnt think of that.

I believe it has to be the original document. However, your fiancée could get it to you in three or four days.

Have you ever been divorced? I believe you would need to get your divorce papers authenticated by the Philippines consulate which has jurisdiction over the state you live in.

ive never been married yet. i was wondering myself as well if it has to be original document. i think after her mom gets off work today, they will go find out what they can.but i dont think they understand what needs to be done exactly.especially since im not from there

not sure if they need orig signatures.

i kind of wondered about that.she is telling me we can apply for a license after the wedding but it takes weeks.i dont know if thats possible or not.really we want to just say we are married rather or not we have that paper stating we are legally married.if that makes sense.we can get paper work later.

You need a marriage license in order to get married. There's a ten day wait for a marriage license.

Don't worry about a marriage certificate. That's something you'll get after you are married.

Here is one way to do it under 10 days. 1. So have your fiancee check with local registrar to see if this will work for you. Most times you could file for the license in advance and complete other requirements when you arrive. You need to check with the registrar and see if they will do this. 2. Then you go to the Filipino Embassy near you with a filled out marriage license (just your half) and asked them to certify the document. They should do this and usually will cost about $25 and a return visit the next day to pick up the form. 3. Once you have the document and then send it to your fiancee. Next have her fill out her part and take it to her local registrar for filing. Do this about three weeks before your arrival to help in meeting the 10 day requirement. She also has to give the registrar her CEMAR. 4. Upon arrival go to the US embassy (you must make an appointment), and get a legal capacity to marry. Cost $50 fee. 5. Now take your legal capacity to marry and a copy of passport entry to the registrar. They may give a release date of the next day for marriage license. However you need to attend the family planning seminar. 6. Returned after the seminar, and get the license. Now go and get married and have a happy life together.

Your actual mileage may vary. Good luck.

anyone know if this is actually possible to do in 2 days?as we do want to have civil wedding.(i may post this as a new thread as well as to help others possibly)

1. you may need few days to have the marriage license from the civil registrar, but you can pay them some cash for rush processing.

but not all cityhall official are that strict to follow the rules and need the marriage license!

at our case: my friend is also a foreign citizen like you that got married to a Filipino, but we don't have or apply for any marriage license, and also not submit it.... in our case.

2. Go to the city hall at your place, and then ask where the dept. or the office for civil wedding is located

3. submit there your marriage license, even don't have marriage license yet, just give the copy of NSO certify birth certificate of your spouse may do (in our case), then after fill up a form they will get it to the processing and schedule the date for your civil wedding ceremony.

4. Go back again on the schedule day to have the civil wedding ceremony with the witness (if you have), then pay the necessary fees.

we done all of this for only 2 days !!

5. Go back again after a week to have your copy of NSO certify marriage contract,

When she goes to the local registrar and hands them your certified marriage license with your signature and of course she will affix her signature and information, you basically are starting the clock ticking for your window of 10 days. But since it is about 3 weeks ahead it doesn't matter because when you get to PI you go to the Embassy and get your "legal capacity to marry" document for the registrar. She issues the license and now you go and get married before your return back to the states. You don't have to wait 10 days because you did the paperwork ahead of time (remember you started this process really 3 weeks ahead of your arrival, so the 10 days has already been fulfilled) that the local registrar needs to issue the license. Of course you need to finish the marriage counseling session and she needs to have her CEMAR but that is something that she can do while waiting for you to arrive in the PI.

Your now free and clear to marry because you have waited the 10 days because you started the clock literally 3 weeks prior.

If you have questions ask away. Good Luck.

Have your fiancée go to her local registrar and advise them of your intentions to send a blank marriage application to you here in the states and that you her fiancé will be getting endorsements from a Philippine Consulate in the USA. If the local registrar agrees, she obtains the application and fax or scans as a PDF file and sends to you.

You in turn have to appear in person at one of the Philippine Consulate office here in the States. See website http://www.philippineembassy-usa.org/index.php?page=consulate-finder-main for the nearest Consulate Office. Present the marriage application with just your information filled in on the document. The counselor will endorse the marriage application verifying that this is you who is applying. Bring two ID's, preferable your passport and a pictured driver's license. You as the applicant will need to present the affidavit, death certificate or divorce decree signifying that you are free to marry along with the application and id's. I would call ahead and make an appointment and explain what you are doing and verify my details as to what is required before attending the process in front of a Philippine Consular.

Once you have the endorsements then send to your fiancée by LBC, DHL or other currier to your fiancée in the Philippines. She receives the original document with all endorsements from you and takes the marriage application to her local registrar for filing. She will fill out her part of the application when she is in front of the registrar. Again, she should bring two government ID's with her to validate her identity. She will receive the license either on that day or the next day. Each local registrar is different and she should verify all necessary documents that are required by her local registrar.

If she is between the age of 18 to 21 she must have parental consent in writing, those age 21 to 25 must have written parental advice (a written indication that the parents are aware of the couple's intent to marry).

These are your first steps and you should begin the process about three weeks before your trip to PI.

Check the Philippine Embassy's website and see if there is an outreach visit to your city or near your city anytime soon. Outreach is where they will come to your city for a day and conduct consular services to those in need. Visit here http://www.philippineembassy-usa.org/philippines-dc/consular-services-dc/faq-dc/#outreach for outreach instructions. Check with your fiancée's local registrar and see if they will accept a notarized application from a local notary in your location.

Keep trying, don't give up if this is what you really want. There is a way, you will just have to keep asking questions as well as your fiancée to the government agency's.
