Hello there! We received our NOA2 last month on August 27th, and NVC still hasn't gotten our case yet. Is this normal? How long does it usually take for them to receive it?

Also, who schedule the interview, me (the beneficiary) or the consulate? Because Im going to be out of the country in October, and im worried for them to schedule it when Im away.

The consulate will schedule your interview. NVC can take a long time to receive your file. It has been almost a month, so it will probably arrive soon. You can always call or email them to ask if it has been received. From NVC to the consulate is usually pretty quick. It seems like once the consulate receives the file, interviews are scheduled about 2 months later.

We got approved August 19 and received the NOA2 on mail on August 23. My fiance called the first time last Wednesday but we still don't have our case number as well...

Let's just wait and hope it will be given soon...

31/05/2013 : sent i-129f packet

07/06/2013 : noa1 email notification

10/06/2013 : received hard copy of noa1

19/08/2013 : petition approved

23/08/2013 : received hard copy of noa2

02/10/2013 : nvc case number

07/10/2013 : left nvc

10/10/2013 : received by consulate

21/10/2013 : petitioner received notice from nvc, beneficiary to fill up ds160

22/10/2013 : received packet 3

29/10/2013 : sent packet 3

18/11/2013 : received packet 4

04/12/2013 : interview - approved!

11/12/2013 : visa received

02/11/2014 : POE Chicago

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I have had the same experience. I recieved by NOA2 on August 21st. USCIS still has it and hasn't forwarded it on to NVC yet. They that now it could take up to 8 weeks to go through the whole process to the Embassy. I even put in a service request with USCIS and they said the wait time can be anywhere from 30 - 90 days. Fingers crossed it goes through soon!

Damn ....receiving the file takes time. now on top of it another month to assign a case number??.. Are you sure NVC received yours on 16-Aug? or is it 16-Sep?

Initially we were happy to be thru CSC & we were on cloud 9 after receiving our NOA2 quite fast..

Its only now we are realising the pain!!!

I don't regret getting CSC. They really shortened the actual wait time for NOA2 which is 5 months. The worst that NVC can do is 8 weeks hehe

Hope it doesn't take 8 weeks. It's been a month for us today.. called last Friday and they still didn't have it. I'm gonna try again after work.. but I am tired of being disappointed every time!

Thank you for the replies. It seems like the cases that were approved in August are stuck in USCIS. I dont see any reason why it should take so long for them to mail it to NVC. It's been 17 business day and still no sign. Fingers crossed to happen soon for all of us.

tell me about it... I have seen the majority of the cases that take the longest are from TSC... ugh... as always... even 10 years ago when I had another process pending there, they were still taking a long time... now fees increased so we would expect something faster, but I understand, they have millions of cases to process... haha..

NOA2 to NVC time seems to be a lottery. Maybe 2 weeks, maybe 8 weeks. The good news is that 8 weeks seems to be the outside, so you will have yours soon.

As for interview date, once it getst to the consulate, check their website. This is usually the fastest notification.
