Hi all,

I need some help to ensure Im going the right direction.

I am currently on a F1 visa on OPT. My husband whom I got maaried to while on this F1visa is an american citizen and we live in the US. As such we are looking at getting me residency so I do not have to leave the states after my OPT is up. I am a Trinidad and Tobago resident and citizen currently.

Is there a timeline I should be considering?

Are the forms to file the I130, !485, I765 and I864, or is there more?

Should I do my medical exam before I file these forms, or should I wait until they request that I do one.

Thanks

Here's our guide: http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2

Basically, you should file I-130, I-485, I-765, and I-131. Each form will have many supporting documents and forms. I-485 requires I-864; it also requires the I-693 medical, and a G-325A. I-130 will also require two G-325A's (one for each of you) since you're applying as a spouse. Read each form's instructions for more details.

Hi,

USCIS offers guidelines about the about the US immigration medical examinations and the applicants must follow these guidelines. Medical examinations are conducted to prevent the people with serious health issues from entering into the country. Similarly, refugees who enter into the United States and who seek lawful status, also must undergo medical examinations. Medical examinations are mandatory for foreign nationals who are filing applications for immigrant visas and for people in the United States who had filed applications for adjustment of status.

You need to take with you, to the medical examination appointment, a copy of the USCIS Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record.

Ok sounds good, thanks for the response. I have the name of a doctor who provides teh I763 forms, I will make an appointment. I just thought I had to send in my AOS applictaion and then wait for them to tell me to get the medical, casue on the form it says, WHEN REQUIRED PROVIDE MEDICAL EXAMINATION RESULTS, or something like that.

You need to include the medical exams results in the application.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi, I am atthe final stage putting together my application for adjustment of status, but I have several questions.

They ask for back and front of the US Birth certificate, if it is blank do i inlcude a blank page, should there be something there?

Should I sign all my documents in blue ink?

My husband the US citizen has a son, my step son and although we have him at least once a month he does not live with us nor does his dad file for him on his taxes, Should I include him on the i864? (either way we will still be good as far as meeting the criteria) I included him on the I485 and denoted him as my step son.

Thanks for taking the time to answer me.. This is soo much work...
