I am currently feeling discouraged after reading TONS of information on I-601 waivers and proving extreme hardship. :-(

My fiancé is going to need to apply for a an I-601, and after reading information on the degrees of hardship I feel that we may not get it approved.

He entered the U.S. without inspection and remained here for 5 years. He left by his free will in March of 2012. I understand that he has a ten year ban (please correct me if I am wrong), and that we can apply for an I-601. We are not married, have no children, no medical conditions, nor do we share anything together yet, so I feel like all I have would be considered very weak arguments. Any suggestions on how to prove extreme hardship? The only reasons I can think of are emotional and my education (I am currently filling out applications for my Masters). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
