Dear All,

My wife (Indian National applying for CR1 visa) had her visa interview yesterday at the Mumbai US consulate. She is a chemical engineer. She was not asked any questions about our relationship, but all of the questions focused on her profession. She has actually quit her job two months ago, in anticipation of joining me in the US. She was handed a 221g form at the end of her interview, and told that she needed to provide more information about her profession.

I was hoping that anyone on the forum who has dealt with a similar situation would be able to advise us as to what this means, how to proceed forward, and how long the delay in processing is.

Thanks

Do exactly what they ask. You say they need more about her profession. See the news lately Chemicals and a person who works with them well maybe they are wanting to know exactly what is it she did where what. Always with a 221G do what you are instructed to do. Why would she quit so early maybe they are suspicious she should explain that also.

Thanks so much for your reply!

Any idea on how long this administrative processing could take? We sent the required information as they asked via email today.

Thanks

There is no timeframe, it could be a few weeks, it could be a year. For the US it is a matter of national security and it'll take as long as it takes for them to be satisfied she poses no threat.
