Hi all,

I'm an Irish citizen that has permanent residency in Canada. I travel regularly to the US with the possibility of moving here in the future. I have a job in Canada which I can work remotely. In the last 6 months I have spent about 3-4 months in the US and when I come to the border I get a visa waver (I think it is called an i-90) that allows me to stay for 3 months at a time. My exit date on the current visa waver is Oct 12th. I'm wondering if I try to reenter the US on Oct 5th and tell them I need to stay until Oct 25th will they give me a new 3 month waver or would it be better if I waited until after the 12th before reentering?

Thanks for your help,

D

Does sound like you are pushing your luck.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

A visit to a neighbouring country (Canada or Mexico) does not re-set the VWP clock.
